Our Story and Services

Excellence Without Exception
The Thorson Ferdinand Weidmuller Group is a team of seasoned wealth management professionals who have decades of experience on Wall Street advising institutional clients and managing equity strategies at the highest levels. Today, we bring that same discipline, discretion, and depth of service to a select group of executives, entrepreneurs, multigenerational families, and institutions who demand nothing less than excellence.

Planning With Purpose
Affluent families often face challenges that do not come with roadmaps, such as multi-generational estate planning, tax efficiency across jurisdictions, concentrated equity exposure, and philanthropic structuring. Drawing on our deep institutional and private wealth backgrounds as well as Morgan Stanley's prolific resources, we help deliver sophisticated solutions that aim to address each client's comprehensive set of needs.

Portfolio Management With Precision
What sets us apart is not just performance, it is perspective. We have built our careers navigating the same capital markets that shape our clients' worldviews. This shared experience facilitates meaningful, high-level conversations — resulting in sophisticated strategies tailored to the complexities of ultra-high net worth.

Legacy Of Loyalty
We came together as market professionals who care deeply about people — and that remains a key driver of our practice today. Built on trust, consistency, and lifelong commitment, many of our client relationships span decades and multiple generations. We believe in personalized, high-touch service, and we take pride in showing up for our clients through acts of service big and small.

Case Study: Mitigating Risk and Protecting Gains
One of our clients had accumulated considerable wealth through a successful career. As a result, they were holding a large concentration of stock in a single company that had experienced tremendous growth. While the gains were significant, the client was not fully aware of the risks and tax implications of maintaining such a concentrated position. We introduced a strategic solution which helped them to diversify their holdings without incurring immediate capital gains taxes. By proactively addressing this issue, we helped protect their wealth from potential market volatility, aiming to ensure that they could continue to enjoy the upside of the investment without taking on undue risk.

Case Study: Empowering Life's Major Transitions
A client navigating a divorce reached out after receiving a substantial financial settlement offer. When the client came to us, we could see clearly that the offered stock transfer looked much better than it was, because it would have resulted in a substantial tax burden for our client. Our team suggested a different approach, which the client then took to their attorney. After the settlement, we helped them develop a tax-efficient strategy that aligned with their needs and goals going forward.

Case Study: Building a Relationship on Trust and Expertise
A long-time client, with extensive experience navigating the financial world, came to us after working with several advisory teams. The client sought a team who could not only understand their needs but also engage on a personal level, particularly about a deep interest in financial markets. Our team provided that connection, blending sophisticated financial strategies with ongoing, insightful conversations about the market. The relationship has evolved into one of our most valued, rooted in trust, consistent care, and a shared passion for financial strategy.

Portfolio Management

At the Thorson Ferdinand Weidmuller Group, portfolio management is a core competency. Our hands-on approach aims to remove unnecessary layers — and unnecessary fees — while offering clients greater sophistication, transparency, and customization in their investment approach.

A Foundation Built on Experience

With deep institutional backgrounds and top firm designations, our team has the intellectual capital, discipline, and firsthand experience to help even the most discerning clients design smarter, more resilient investment strategies.

Whether we are managing core equity allocations, evaluating concentrated positions, or sourcing differentiated opportunities through Morgan Stanley's industry-leading alternative investments platform, we bring a high-level, research-driven perspective to every portfolio we build.

Why "In-House" Matters

  • Efficiency — Because we manage portfolios in-house, our clients do not pay third-party management fees on the strategies we construct and implement.
  • Alignment — Along with greater clarity around pricing, our approach leaves no incentive to recommend high-fee products that do not serve our clients' goals.
  • Transparency — When clients call, they speak directly to the team who built the portfolio and can explain exactly what is happening and why.
Comprehensive by Design

Performance, though important, is only one piece of the puzzle. Planning matters. Taxes matter. Liquidity matters. Timing, structure, and risk management matter. That is precisely the kind of complexity we are built for — bringing a comprehensive, solutions-based mindset shaped by decades in institutional equity markets and high-net-worth wealth management. We integrate the full financial picture, from equity concentration to tax exposure into a personalized strategy designed to reflect each client's unique objectives.
