My Story and Services

Tom Konop is a Managing Director, Senior Portfolio Manager, and Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts in 1988 and in 1992, he and his wife, Nancy relocated to Anchorage, where he began his career as a Financial Consultant with Shearson Lehman Brothers. Over the decades that followed, he continued to serve clients through the firm’s evolution—including subsequent transitions involving Smith Barney and, ultimately, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management—maintaining continuity of advice and a focus on disciplined, client-centered planning. His practice supports a broad range of client needs, including investment management, retirement planning, estate and legacy considerations, lending, cash management and coordination with clients’ tax and legal professionals as appropriate.

Since 1997, Tom has been recognized as one of the firm’s top Financial Advisors and has been a member of the firm’s prestigious President’s Club. From 2009-2023, and 2026, Tom has been recognized by Barron’s* as one of the Top Financial Advisors in the State of Alaska. Tom has also been recognized as one of the top ranked Wealth Advisor in the State of Alaska on Forbes’ 2025 list of America’s Best-In-State Wealth Advisors. Since its inception in 2018 Tom has annually been recognized on this list. It is a great honor for him to be included on this prestigious list of Financial Advisors who are raising the industry bar for professionalism, dedication, and exceptional service.

Tom has been exposed to the financial services industry for most of his life, with a family background of working in the industry. Since becoming a Financial Advisor himself, Tom has focused on retirement planning. He has worked extensively with employees from the State of Alaska, various oil companies, school districts, and numerous other public and private entities in the State. Among Tom’s areas of concentration are his vast knowledge of his clients’ retirement programs, the principles of retirement, estate and financial planning strategies, and asset allocation and management.

17Participating in a new issue/syndicate is subject to availability. IPOs are highly speculative and may not be appropriate for all investors because they lack a stock-trading history and usually involve smaller and newer companies that tend to have limited operating histories, less-experienced management teams, and fewer products or customers. Also, the offering price of an IPO reflects a negotiated estimate as to the value of the company, which may bear little relationship to the trading price of the securities, and it is not uncommon for the closing price of the shares shortly after the IPO to be well above or below the offering price.
