Meet The Zielinski Newman Group

About Timothy Zielinski

Tim grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated from Millard South High school and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska – Omaha. He started working as a computer programmer at Mutual of Omaha in 1990. He went on to be a Programming Manager at DMSi Software for 12 years. During these early pursuits, Tim developed an interest in saving and investing. He encouraged his co-workers to make the most of the company retirement plan by starting early and taking advantage of the power of tax-deferral and compound interest.

After multiple discussions with his financial advisor, he decided to pursue a career change into the financial services industry. Although the timing was not the best…starting during the Great Recession (2008), he learned firsthand the patience required to navigate a major market downturn and the value of a trusted advisor.

Tim has over fifteen years’ experience as an advisor. He focusses on helping people prepare for retirement by building and executing comprehensive financial plans.

About Valerie Newman

Val grew up in small town Nebraska the middle of five kids. Her parents owned the local restaurant which provided her endless “opportunities” to learn the value of hard work.

She attended Hasting College in Hastings, Nebraska majoring in History, Business Administration, and Economics. While still a Freshman at Hastings, Val made her first really big decision; she enlisted in the Nebraska Army National Guard in September 2000. In 2003, Val deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. She was honored to get to follow the path of our country’s past Veterans.

In law school, Val fulfilled her childhood dream of being a Husker Football season ticket holder. After graduating law school, Val commissioned in the active-duty Air Force as a Judge Advocate (JAG). She accepted a decent amount of grief from her Army brethren for making the switch. She deployed again in 2012, this time to Afghanistan.

In 2014, Val transitioned to the Nebraska Air National Guard. She practiced real estate, insurance and probate law. She also served as the Wing Staff Judge Advocate. In 2022, after almost 23 years of military service, Val retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and stopped practicing law.

In 2021, Val became financial advisor at Morgan Stanley. Val loves using her past experience and expertise to assist her clients in fulfilling their goals.
