About Chris Prater
For Chris, a strong client relationship is built on trust, accessibility, and open communication. He makes it a priority to be available when clients need him and to become a resource they feel comfortable turning to for both major financial decisions and everyday questions. Over time, many of those relationships extend well beyond finances, something Chris considers one of the most rewarding aspects of his work.
Chris also believes clients should understand their financial lives, not simply be told what to do. He recognizes that finance isn’t everyone’s area of expertise and takes the time to explain complex topics in a way that is clear, practical and relevant to each client. By understanding the full picture—including assets, liabilities, cash flow, and long-term priorities—Chris and his team can provide advice that evolves alongside their clients’ lives and helps them make financial decisions with greater clarity and confidence.
Chris’ commitment to his clients and his profession has been recognized both externally and within Morgan Stanley. In 2026, he was named to the Forbes Top Next-Gen Wealth Advisors Best-In-State list, and since 2023, Chris and his team, The Polaris Legacy Group, have been recognized as a Forbes Best-In-State Wealth Management Team. Within Morgan Stanley, Chris has been a member of the firm’s Pacesetter’s Club since 2018 and has also been named to its Century Club, recognizing his continued commitment to client service and professional excellence.
Chris holds the Financial Planning Specialist, Alternative Investment Director and Insurance Planning Director designations as well as the General Securities Representative (Series 7), Uniform Combined State Law Examination (Series 66), and Life, Variable and Health Insurance licenses. He graduated summa cum laude from King’s College.
Chris is also committed to giving back to the community. For the past five years, he has spearheaded Morgan Stanley’s involvement in the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute’s C.A.S.U.A.L. Day, supporting colon cancer awareness efforts throughout the region.
When he’s not working, you’ll usually find Chris running, enjoying the outdoors, or spending time with family and friends. He lives with his wife, Amanda, and their very full house of three dogs—Winnie, Enzo and Alfredo—and two cats, Churchill and Polly.
