About Peter J Kokolis

Peter Kokolis is a Senior Vice President, Financial Advisor and Portfolio Management Director with Morgan Stanley Wealth Management in Williamsburg, VA, where he has been a resident since 1976.

After earning an Economics and Business degree from the Virginia Military Institute, Peter started his career in financial services with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in August 1996. Peter adopted an early belief that financial planning is the foundation of advising clients successfully toward their goals. As his client base grew, Peter and his brother, John, formed a partnership to better serve their clients’ needs.

During the financial crisis of 2008-2009, many of their clients became concerned about the direction of the investment industry. The Kokolis’ considered this combination would create the stability and a robust investment platform that would be essential to advising their clients in the future. Peter and John decided to move their practice to Morgan Stanley in April of 2009.

Peter and his wife, Christina, have three children, Noelle, Arianna, and James. Outside of work, Pete is an active member of the James City County Rotary Club, the local VMI Alumni Chapter. 9Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
