How To Face Liquidity Events with Confidence

Banks and financial institutions locally and across the country often experience a change in control or are purchased by another institution.

At The Weaving Road Group, we have extensive experience working with executives undergoing several major types of liquidity events. Pen’s family was a principal shareholder of a community bank founded more than a half century ago that was later sold to a publicly-traded corporation. He knows first-hand the difficult decision shareholders must make when selling a business that was founded and run by parents and grandparents. As an Executive Financial Services Director, Pete has garnered significant experience working with bank executives and concentrated shareholders to pair their assets with Morgan Stanley's resources.

This type of activity can impact you in two major ways:
    Icon Image
    Principals and Directors
You may face a major liquidity event that involves a stock sale, a cash sale, or a combination of both.
    Icon Image
    Bank Executives
You may face a major liquidity event that involves moving your assets from your current employer to another financial institution. This can happen for three primary reasons:

    - You transition to a new position at another financial institution

    - You retire from the banking industry

    - The bank you are working at has merged with another bank

Our Service Model

We believe successful wealth management is a process, not an event. We have built a personalized service experience that is based on three critical components: continuous service, mutual understanding, and ongoing relationship building. This model enables us to provide service that is both value-added and differentiating. We attract new clients – and maintain existing ones – because of our premium service experience.

Monthly Phone Calls
As part of our commitment to superior service, we schedule monthly phone calls with you. This conversation is our dedicated time to discuss updates in your life, questions you may have about the market or an opportunity to provide timely information about your portfolio.

While you will clearly drive the conversation with your agenda items, here is a list of topics we may discuss throughout the year:

• Helpful tax-saving strategies
• Retirement plan contributions and distributions
• Required minimum distributions
• Beneficiary review and estate plan updates
• Strategies designed to reduce risks and fees
• Investment opportunities in the marketplace

Quarterly Reviews
In addition to our monthly phone calls, we schedule quarterly performance reviews to discuss your investments in detail. One of these meetings will be face to face. The purpose of these meetings is to provide a “no surprise strategy” in managing your assets. Our ultimate goal is to ensure your plan remains on track for achieving your short- and long-term goals.

Your Personal CFO
As stewards of your personal wealth, we believe you should have immediate access to us, as well as the vast services offered through Morgan Stanley. In addition to the above scheduled activities, we are always available to answer your questions, either in person or by phone. Our number one priority is to be your first call for any financial matter – no matter how simple or complex the situation.

Alternative Investment Strategies

    Icon Image
    Exchange Funds
An exchange fund is a special-purpose vehicle that offers holders the ability to diversify their investments by exchanging stock positions, oftentimes in highly appreciated or restricted stock, for shares of a diversified portfolio. Contributions of appreciated stock to a properly structured exchange fund are not taxable under current federal tax law.
    Icon Image
    Private Credit & Equity
Private Credit investing is an essential component of Morgan Stanley Investment Management’s alternative investments platform. I manage a well-defined group of strategies and seek to deliver attractive returns to their investors by forging successful partnerships with their portfolio companies.
    Icon Image
    Concentrated Stock Management
Concentrated positions can increase investment risk. The simplest way to reduce that risk is to diversify your portfolio. However, many investors may be unable or unwilling to sell their concentrated position. I work to develop hedging and monetization strategies on high net worth individual's concentrated stock positions, that allow these investors to generate additional income on these concentrated positions.
    Icon Image
    Hedge Funds
Morgan Stanley's hedge fund solutions include custom portfolios; broadly-diversified, opportunistic, and strategy-specific funds; and advisory services.
    Icon Image
    Banking Solutions
Morgan Stanley provides a full range of banking, lending, and cash management services for individuals and small businesses.
    Icon Image
    Insurance Solutions
A sound wealth plan involves more than just seeking returns. It also involves mitigating and managing risks, helping to cushion you when the unexpected occurs. An insurance product can help you plan for and guard against life’s hidden curves – to help protect your assets and your family.
