Meet The Tofilon Group

About John Tofilon

John began his career in the financial industry over 43 years ago. He grew in his expertise of the fixed income markets at a boutique bond firm in Chicago. There, he committed his career to helping high net worth individuals build a right-sized relationship with their money, profession and passions.

In 2007, John founded The Tofilon Group at Morgan Stanley and, along with Kent Atkinson, created a wealth advisory practice. John is the group’s lead Financial Advisor and Managing Director. As a sought after seminar speaker, he utilizes his strong communication skill to help simplify complex ideas in order to give clients the understanding, confidence and freedom in their financial lives.

Outside the office, John has served as budget counselor for his church and in 2002, he co-authored the Good Sense Budget course. He and his wife of 46 year, Charlotte, are dedicated to their three adult children and spouses and eight grandchildren.

About Kent Atkinson

Kent began his career at a bond specialty firm in Chicago in 1986. After a decade of working with institutional investors, he joined John Tofilon to apply his fixed income knowledge and skills to help high net-worth individual investors. Once at Morgan Stanley in 2007, he helped develop the group’s wealth advisory practice. Kent combines his astute market knowledge and experience with his passion to guide clients to a healthy financial future.
Outside the office, Kent and his wife of 40 years, Pam, have served as leaders in their local church for the past 31 years. They have three children and spouses and ten grandchildren.

About David Tofilon

David started his career in 2000 at the Chicago Board of Trade as a clerk and in time became a trader in the 30-year bond options pit. He joined the Tofilon Group in 2010, and with his tenure, brought extensive knowledge of the fixed income markets, risk management and market volatility.

As Senior Portfolio Manager for the group, he leverages the success he had at the CBOT by strategically building portfolios focused on creating efficient and reliable streams of income while minimizing risk exposure. Additionally, as Financial Advisor, he serves clients by helping them navigate the complexities of the financial world in order to grow their wealth.

He holds his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business/Economics from Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL where he also played on the Wheaton Football team.

Outside the office, David and his wife Vanessa have been married over 20 years and share a full life with their four children Nate, Reagan, Cami, and Zach. He has served as a Board Member for the Palatine Celtic Soccer Club since 2014.

About Audrey Pickering

Audrey joined the Tofilon Group at Morgan Stanley in 2010. As a Wealth Management Associate, she manages the team's operational tasks and client reporting. Audrey holds her Series 7 & 66 licenses and received her B.A in Finance from Western Illinois University, Macomb, IL.

Outside of the office, Audrey enjoys traveling with her husband, Max, and their dogs, Pepper and Kylo. During the summer months, you will often find them outdoors at concerts or at the lake in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

About Kelly Karecki

Kelly joined the Tofilon Group at Morgan Stanley in 2016 and currently helps handle the group's administrative responsibilities and marketing efforts. She has 11 years of industry experience, received her B.A. in Anthropology and Linguistics at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and her M.A. in Secondary Education at National Louis University.

Outside of the office, Kelly and her husband, Chad, enjoy making memories with friends and family doing anything outdoorsy, from wakeboarding and snowboarding to camping and tailgating. They have two sons, Leo (3) and Bode (1).
