The Taylor Group is known as of one of the top teams in the country managing over $4.8 billion* in client assets. They work exclusively with Engineers, C-Suite Executives and Senior Management in publicly traded companies in Silicon Valley.

The team's founding member, James Taylor, has been ranked by Forbes 18 times. Most recently in 2025, he was ranked #1 in New York City on Forbes' Top Next-Gen Wealth Advisors Best-In-State list. Shane Drumm also made his third appearance on the list, coming in at #5 in New York City. The team was also ranked as a whole in the Forbes' Best-In-State Wealth Management Teams list in 2024 and 2025 as well as the Barron's Top 250 Private Wealth Management Teams list in 2025.

Internally, James has been named to Morgan Stanley's Chairman's Club in 2025, which is an elite group of Morgan Stanley financial advisors in the country. C. James Taylor

James is a Financial Advisor who began his career in the height of the Financial Crisis, shaping his investment philosophy of ‘principal preservation.’ After making the move to Merrill Lynch in 2011 from a regional broker dealer, he had a vision of how he wanted to build his practice and founded The Taylor Group. The success and growth of the group is attributed to the emphasis placed on Financial Planning and the ‘boutique office’ feel for the retail client with a world class service model.

In November 2020, James moved his team to Morgan Stanley after seeing the competitive advantage given his team’s clientele. The Taylor Group works with Senior Executives at publicly traded companies and focuses on tax efficient strategies around executive compensation. The team also assists in advising clients around trust and estate planning strategies, legacy formation and transfer, education planning, and providing various lending and liquidity options.

James was recognized as the youngest and first African American Chair-Elect in Merrill’s history while serving on The Advisory Council to Management (ACTM) and frequently delivering keynote speeches across the country. Given all of James’ accomplishments, he has been acknowledged industry-wide as a top practitioner by Forbes for six consecutive years. Most recently, in 2024, James was named to the Forbes Top Next-Gen Advisors List, ranking #1 in New York City. Additionally, he was included on the Forbes Best-In-State Advisors list in both 2024/2025 and was named to Morgan Stanley’s prestigious Chairman's Club in 2025, which is an elite group of Morgan Stanley financial advisors in the country. James was also recognized by Forbes as one of 'America's Top Next-Generation Wealth Advisors' in 2020 - 2024.

Outside of Morgan Stanley, James serves on the New York Board of UNICEF as well as the Board of Trustees at Marist College. He is an advocate for charitable causes around the country including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Fight ALS Now, and Autism Speaks. James is an avid golfer, skier, and a member of The Economic Club of New York.

Shane Drumm

Shane is one of the partners of The Taylor Group, based out of Manhattan, New York. They focus on working with high net worth families through wealth management, tax minimization strategies, and estate planning services. Shane focuses on working with senior executives of publicly traded companies, helping navigate their unique compensation in a tax efficient manner.

Shane has been ranked in Forbes 'Best-In-State Next Generation Wealth Advisors List' in 2023-2025, Forbes ‘Best-In-State Wealth Advisors List’ 2025 and named to Financial Times Magazine Top 40 under 40.

Originally from Suffern, New York but grew up in Red Bank, New Jersey. Shane attended Red Bank Catholic High School and graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor degree in Finance and minor in Economics. Currently residing in Gramercy Park, Shane in his free time enjoys traveling and rooting on the Tide.

Marcus Briscoe, CIMA^®

Marcus is a Financial Advisor for The Taylor Group. Through a holistic, goals-based approach, Marcus employs value in the lives of his clients and helps them reach their financial goals, while also striving to ensure a lasting legacy for generations to come. Marcus is originally from Southern California, but currently resides in the South Bronx. He graduated from Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Business Management. Marcus began in the Financial Services Industry at Merrill Lynch where he was a First Quintile Advisor in their FADP program. In 2025, he was named to the Forbes Best-In-State Top Next Gen List for the first time.

While at Columbia, he was a member of the Varsity Football Team and brother of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Outside of work, Marcus is interested in all things art and fashion, and is an avid fitness and cooking enthusiast.

Jamison Embury, MBA

Jamison graduated Summa Cum Laude from Marist College at the top of his class, receiving his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Financial Management. From Westchester, NY, Jamison enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as volunteering his free time coaching lacrosse.

Samantha Lynch, CFA^®*

Samantha is an Investment Consultant for The Taylor Group. Samantha is committed to helping her clients achieve their financial goals by using a customized approach, specifically tailored to each of her client's needs.

Originally from Massapequa, NY, Samantha currently resides on the Upper West Side. She graduated cum laude from Marist College where she double majored in Mathematics and Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. Samantha earned her CFA charter in September 2023. She passed all three exams on her first attempt. She comes from a consulting background, where she conducted financial and market analysis, performed due diligence on investment opportunities, and provided litigation support for legal and financial disputes. Samantha focuses on gathering and interpreting data from SEC filings, earnings reports, industry publications, and market trends to evaluate companies, assess risks, and prepare research reports. She enjoys reading, being outdoors, and spending time with family, friends, and her dog.

Alan Sorokin, CFP^®

Alan is an Investment Consultant and Certified Financial Planner^® for The Taylor Group. Alan is dedicated to helping clients achieve their financial goals through a personalized, strategic approach tailored to each individual's needs. Leveraging the advanced planning resources of Morgan Stanley, Alan provides guidance across a spectrum of wealth management needs, including investment strategy, tax efficiency, retirement planning, cash flow optimization, education funding, risk management, and estate planning. Alan's holistic approach allows clients to asses a range of strategies and confidently select the path best aligned with their long term goals.

Alan was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, where he currently resides. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Buffalo, where he majored in Business Administration with a concentration in finance. Committed to education, he undertook the rigorous coursework required to become a Certified Financial Planner in 2025- an elite industry designation that equips him with the knowledge and skillset to help his clients across a wide array of wealth management needs. Outside of work, Alan enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and staying active with various sports including baseball, golf, and pickleball.

Roger McGlynn

Roger is a Financial Advisor who began his career in Wealth Management in 2013 after graduating from Union College with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Committed to helping clients achieve their financial goals, his approach is a collaborative one. Through regular communication, and drawing upon the resources of Morgan Stanley, Roger works to bring customized solutions to help meet the unique needs of his clients. Roger currently resides in Manhattan and is an avid Chelsea FC supporter.

Paul Santavicca, MBA

Paul Santavicca brings a robust background in mathematics to his role as Chief of Operations at our wealth management team. With a keen analytical mind honed through his academic studies, he oversees critical operational strategies to help optimize client outcomes and streamline internal processes.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Paul leads a fulfilling life enriched by his passions outside of work. An avid coach and former division one lacrosse player, he devotes his time to mentoring young athletes in football and lacrosse imparting leadership and teamwork skills that extend beyond the playing field. Alongside his wife, Paul explores the world through dining and travel embracing new cultures and creating lasting memories.

Paul was born and raised in Yorktown, New York and now resides in Manhattan. He graduated from Marist College with a BA in Mathematics and an MA in Psychology.

Julia Dinota, CRPC^®*

Julia is a Client Service Associate for The Taylor Group. About C. James Taylor

James began his career in the height of the Financial Crisis, shaping his investment philosophy of ‘principal preservation.’ After making the move to Merrill Lynch in 2011 from a regional broker-dealer, he had a vision of how he wanted to build his practice and founded The Taylor Group. The success and growth of the group is attributed to the emphasis placed on Financial Planning and seeking to provide a ‘boutique office’ feel for the retail client with a world-class service model.

In November 2020, James moved his team to Morgan Stanley after seeing the competitive advantage given his team’s clientele. The Taylor Group works with Senior Executives at publicly traded companies and specializes in tax-efficient strategies around executive compensation. The team also assists in advising clients around trust and estate planning strategies, legacy formation and transfer, education planning, and providing various lending and liquidity options.

James was recognized as the youngest and first African American Chair-Elect in Merrill’s history while serving on The Advisory Council to Management (ACTM) and frequently delivering keynote speeches across the country.
