Meet The Steinbrenner Group

About Derek A. Steinbrenner

Derek works alongside Chris in all aspects of our practice, from analyzing our investment strategies, to implementing them in client portfolios, to conducting financial goal analysis and planning with clients. He also drives process improvement for the team and works to ensure our high level of client service. With advanced degrees in business and psychology emphasizing quantitative analysis, and a 15-year career in management consulting operations, he brings a distinctive perspective and skillset to our practice and clients.

Prior to joining the Steinbrenner Group, Derek was principal and director of operations for Cambria Consulting, a Boston-based human resource management consulting firm. Derek’s experience working with the firm’s global network of independent executive coaches gives him insight into the financial opportunities, challenges, and concerns of independent contractors and small business owners.

Derek holds a BA in psychology, magna cum laude, from Tufts University, a master’s in psychology from Bowling Green State University, and an MBA from Columbus State University. He and his wife, Corinne, a freelance writer and editor, reside in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, with their two young sons, Garrett and Jonah. An active member of the East Greenwich community, Derek chairs the East Greenwich Land Trust and is treasurer of Cub Scouts Pack 3, East Greenwich.

About Christopher C. Puranananda

Chris’s interest in investing began at a young age, when he would sit with his father and pick stocks from the Wall Street Journal.  That experience set the foundation for a lifelong interest in the stock market and taught him the importance of choosing investments wisely, planning for the future, and focusing on the long term.

Joining The Steinbrenner Group has given Chris the opportunity to share his extensive financial knowledge and understanding with others, and help our clients make smart financial decisions.  Chris works alongside Derek in all aspects of our practice, from analyzing our investment strategies, to implementing them in client portfolios, to conducting financial goal analysis and planning with clients. He has also developed a focus in the arena of education funding and college financial planning, including strategies for maximizing financial aid eligibility.

Chris holds a BS in electrical engineering from Tufts University and an MBA in finance from DePaul University. Before joining Morgan Stanley, he spent over 20 years in the Telecom industry, working with a wide range of businesses, from Fortune 500 companies to small start-ups. Chris and his wife, Erin (Paul’s daughter / Derek’s sister) reside in Newport RI. Both of their children are attending the University of Colorado Boulder, Claire is working toward her PhD in geochemistry and Carter is studying business with a concentration in finance
