- PLAN: We believe that a successful planning strategy must be customized to reflect what you care about most, address the shifting nature of issues and the unknown, and seek to mitigate judgement and behavioral risks.
- IMPLEMENT: We work with you to implement a strategic investment approach. Our holistic integration process directly ties your money to your goals. We look across all your accounts to identify the combination that best meets your saving and spending goals.
- MONITOR & ADAPT: We believe that as your life changes, you need an investment plan that is proactive. We help continuously track your progress and make adjustments to account for life, career, and market changes.
Our Legacy
Please scroll through the photos which provide visuals of our legacy story below.
In the Fall of 2017, the Springwater Group was formed. Doug Moshofsky, Jimm Pierson, Tim Tank, and Matt Moshofsky had the shared vision to help clients discover their goals, implement strategic planning, and create a legacy that lasts. The team experienced growth and development in the areas of practice management, investment discipline, financial and estate planning, and college financial planning.
In the Summer of 2021, Jimm Pierson retired after 39 years as a financial advisor. Jimm was proud that his entire career was spent with the same firm. Through the various mergers, name changes, and economic events, Jimm sought to always do what was in the best interest for his clients. His determination, diligence, and loyalty to clients and coworkers are his legacy.
In 2023, Tammi Foehlinger retired. Tammi has been a faithful assistant to clients of both Jimm and Doug and is a founding member of the Springwater Group.
On January 1, 2024, the team lost Tim Tank to cancer. Tim was more than a business partner, but a close friend and a trusted advisor to so many clients. In 2017, Tim was able to rebound from his first battle with brain cancer. A man of faith, Tim would often tell his story and reflect on the gift he received when the brain tumors miraculously disappeared. He returned to work at Morgan Stanley after a year on leave following the initial terminal diagnosis of glioblastoma. Shortly after, Tim received his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation and continued presenting on college financial planning.
The Springwater Group’s proficiency in college financial planning is largely because of Tim Tank. Tim was a high school counselor and track and cross-country coach before becoming a financial advisor. Having a passion for helping youth and a competency with the college admissions and financial aid processes, Tim would often say that “no two families are alike” and “there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach when it comes to college planning”.
Tim was incredibly generous with his time to clients, friends, community, and anyone that had a question. He took great pleasure in helping others talk through their situation and come up with creative solutions. Tim’s generosity didn’t stop with financial planning. Tim’s love of running and family, led him to create and organize the annual Oak Hills Turkey Trot.
For the 800+ friends and family turned out to Beaverton Foursquare Church for his memorial service, Tim’s legacy was evident. Doug and Matt aim to carry on the legacy of stewardship, generosity, care, and diligence in the DNA of the Springwater Group.

Meet The Springwater Group
About Doug Moshofsky
Faith, family, and finances are core to Doug’s story.
As a young boy Doug invested lawn money cash into stocks, with his dad’s encouragement. Doug’s first job was wearing a hard hat and gloves to work summers at the Moshofsky family lumber mill. Things transitioned into the office, selling lumber after college. However, troubling times hit the forest products industry. With his finance degree and MBA, Doug helped his family navigate the successful sale of the business, which was transformative and inspirational. Digging into estate planning and wealth management strategies spawned the desire to do similar work helping others. This motivated Doug to pursue the opportunity to transition to be a financial advisor.
Generational family dynamics struck again in 2017, when son Matt Moshofsky joined his as the second member of the Springwater Group. Matt came over from the public accounting firm PwC, where Matt developed financial stewardship skills as a practicing CPA.
Doug is committed to providing excellence and wholistic financial solutions for clients. Consequently, he earned his credentials as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®). Seeking biblical wisdom into financial stewardship, Doug studied and became a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA®). Doug leads a monthly study group of fellow Kingdom Advisor professionals to help sharpen their insights.
Proverbs 20:5 says, “The purpose in a man’s heart is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out”. This idea is a guiding principle to the Springwater Group, whose name is inspired by notion that living water flows from within.
Water has always inspired Doug. He grew up competing as a swimmer at a national level, then played water polo at the University of Washington. Doug and his wife Julie enjoy living on the Willamette River where flowing water has a way of bringing peace and serenity. As empty nesters, they get to spend a great deal of time working outdoors with their dogs and chickens. Fun activities like slalom skiing, kayaking, and open water swims fill their day. When opportunity strikes, they travel to exotic places to SCUBA or sit on sandy beaches. However, the highlight is when the grandchildren come over to play and go for a ride on “Papa’s slow boat”.
Doug and his high school sweetheart Julie have enjoyed 40 years of marriage. They raised four children in the Beaverton community of Murray Hill. The family lifestyle was active, including competitive sports, fun road trips, and many Oregon Duck football and bowl games. Sons Michael and Mark followed in their dad’s footsteps by playing water polo for the Huskies. As a family who celebrates competition, Doug and all four of his kids, including Matt and daughter Mary Lynn, have competed together in several Half Ironman triathlons.

About Matt Moshofsky
The discipline and responsibility of being a wise financial steward, and helping others in this realm, has always driven Matt. Starting out as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), then transitioning to a Financial Advisor, Matt brings over 10 years of experience in the financial services industry.
Early on, Matt became a meticulous budgeter, diligent saver, and early investor. His interest in personal finance and business led him to major in Accounting at the University of Oregon, obtain his CPA designation with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and go to work helping companies optimize their financial processes. This experience provided Matt valuable insights into the finances and operations of both large public and small private companies.
Although exciting and fulfilling work, Matt's interest in financial planning and desire to help people, led him to follow in his father's footsteps and become a Financial Advisor. He now works alongside his Dad (Doug), helping optimize the financial processes and personal balance sheets of families and individuals.
Comprehensive and goal-oriented financial planning is central to Matt's process. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP®), holds the firm's Financial Planning Specialist (FPS) designation, and was named to the 2022 & 2023 Morgan Stanley Pacesetter's Club for client service. Matt also sits on the Portland West Young Life Committee as the Area Treasurer. They enjoy neighborhood walks, the outdoors, spending time with friends and family, home projects, an occasional half ironman competition, and relaxing along the Willamette river.
