A Customized Wealth Management Approach

Tab Image
We at The Silich Group at Morgan Stanley understand that your family's dynamics, goals and risk tolerance are unique. We work with a select group of investors in helping them meet and potentially exceed their unique personal and financial goals through a tailored investment process. Whether your financial objective is to grow your wealth, preserve it or pass it on to others, you can count on us to help you implement a strategy that is: Personal, Flexible, and Comprehensive.
Discovery Process
While every client situation is unique, we begin by learning about you, your family and your financial complexities. What we learn helps us to formulate specific strategies and, of equal importance, it helps us customize the entire relationship to your preferences and requirements.
Formulation of Tax, Trust and Estate Strategy with Appropriate Advisors
After reviewing your balance sheet and existing estate plan, we help analyze your income and estate tax circumstances to identify planning techniques that may be effectively tailored to your personal and financial objectives. We will work with your tax and legal advisors in this effort.
Creation of Strategic Asset Allocation
Managing significant wealth often involves developing a customized asset allocation mix that reflects risk, opportunities and taxation across multiple entities, while integrating your investing and estate plans. This asset allocation becomes the basis for a long-term strategy formalized in your investment policy.

*1. Asset allocation does not ensure a profit or protect against a loss in declining financial markets
Integration of Tactical Asset Allocation
These short-term adjustments in asset allocations (1) seek to take advantage of opportunities created by temporary market distortions. Before adjustments are made, we can analyze the impact of any taxes or trading costs on potential returns.

*1. Asset allocation does not ensure a profit or protect against a loss in declining financial markets
Implementation of a Custom Wealth Strategy
After comprehensive due diligence and extensive analysis of expected results across a range of market scenarios, investment strategies from our global investment platform can be leveraged to create your portfolio. This process can help to create the most efficient balance of risk and return for your specific strategy.
Ongoing Assessment of Your Portfolio and Wealth Management Needs
Coordinating with you and your other advisors, we can conduct ongoing reviews and comprehensive reporting to help ensure that your strategy adapts to changing financial and family needs.

About Joseph N. Silich

Joe Silich is the Managing Director, Wealth Advisor of The Silich Group at Morgan Stanley – In his role, he has worked exclusively with the global high-net worth community. During his tenure, he worked diligently to understand and achieve clients’ every financial goal and engaged in meticulous financial planning and wealth management. Under his leadership, Joe’s private wealth business grew to upward of $2 billion in assets under management as of May 2024.

He successfully recruited and developed a high-performing wealth advising team. In the last 35 years, he and his team have leveraged their experience to develop and deliver wealth management plans for high-net worth individuals and families. The team has carefully coalesced financial planning, tax sensitivity, and estate planning strategies to ensure each component of the clients’ financial portfolio is aligned with the clients’ individual financial goals.

The Silich Group has successfully navigated clients through the phases of wealth accumulation and preservation – and has been consistent in delivering best-in-class service. Diligence, deep insights, and careful attention to detail have resulted in The Silich Group earning a reputation for excellence. Their mantra, “wealth advising through client intimacy distinguished by openness, efficiency, and advice delivered in a unique style” has been a guiding principle in their practice. They know that success is not only determined by statistical measures of performance, but also by clients’ ability to achieve their goals.

As a financial advisor, Joe is considered a thought leader and is frequently sought after for media interviews. He has made appearances on MSNBC, CNBC, and Bloomberg television. He has been featured and quoted in Crain’s Chicago Business, Smart Money, Chicago Tribune, CS Magazine, Kiplinger’s Personal, and other financial publications.

His career has been marked by a wide range of awards and accolades and
demonstrates his ability to deliver outstanding results for individuals and families. Joe has been on Forbes Magazine’s Best-in-State Wealth Advisors list from its inception in 2018 to 2024. From 2009 to 2023, he has been recognized on Barron’s list of top 1,200 financial advisors. In 2024 and 2025, The Silich Group was also recognized as one of the top Advisor teams in the Midwest by Forbes Magazine and Shook Research.

Joe is dedicated to philanthropic work and has made a critical impact both locally and globally. In 2020, he earned a top award at the finance industry’s 14th Annual Invest in Others Awards, which recognizes charitable work of advisors across the country. His commitment to service shines through his role with the USO, where he served on the Midwest Regional and Illinois Boards, even leading as chairman in 2017 and 2018. The USO, dedicated to strengthening America's military service members by keeping them connected to family, home, and the country throughout their service to the nation, has benefited greatly from Joe's leadership. From 2010 to 2016, he chaired their primary fundraising and special events committee. Moreover, his co-leadership in the "Answer the Call" campaign was pivotal in raising $5.5 million for the modernization of USO Midwest facilities, furthering the organization's mission to support the well-being of military personnel and their families since 1941.

Joe is a member of the St. Laurence High School Board of Trustees as Vice Chairman and co-chaired a successful $5 million capital campaign in 2017 to support the Illinois school. Additionally, he served as vice president of the Riverview Association from 2006 to 2017 and as president of the Greater Streeterville Cityfront Center Board from 2011 to 2017.
