How We Manage Your Money

We work with even the most complex financial portfolios. We’re also well versed in both family and business dynamics—important elements in many financial issues.

In addition, we have a deep understanding of market trends and the global economic landscape. We give you objective, understandable advice, so you can invest with confidence and work closely with you to understand your needs while maintaining the focus and discipline necessary to guide your portfolio through the most challenging markets.

Our Four Step Process:
1) Set Financial Objectives - After a comprehensive consultation, we work with you to help establish a realistic set of objectives based on your financial goals, investment time horizon, liquidity requirements, risk tolerance and investment experience.

2) Define Investment strategy - Based on your financial objectives, we develop an asset allocation strategy designed to help produce optimal portfolio performance: the highest return potential consistent with you expected level of risk.

3) Evaluate and Select Investments - With your objectives in mind, and utilizing a variety of technical and fundamental research, we determine appropriate investments to implement your asset allocation strategy.

4) Ongoing Review - Finally, we monitor your portfolio in order to track its performance relative to your stated objectives and retool the portfolio on a discretionary basis as your needs and circumstances change over time. You'll receive trade confirmations and periodic performance anlysis reports.

Our Clients

Our clients come from a diverse set of backgrounds, professions, identities, lifestyles, and communities. We take pride in our ability to serve the many different needs of our diverse client base. Some of our clients include:
    Icon Image
    Business Owners (including family businesses)
Compared to other investors, business owners require a different approach because they have different wealth management needs. You require a different approach to investing and wealth management because you are different. You built your business and your wealth differently. Not everyone can be a business owner. It takes a special kind of person: an entrepreneurial spirit, a sense of independence, and self-reliance. We get that about you.
We specialize in advising business owners on how to build their personal portfolios and invest outside of their companies, both prior to and then after they exit.
    Icon Image
    Corporate executives
As a senior executive, you have significant responsibilities to your customers, colleagues, board of directors, shareholders and members of the communities in which you do business. Focused on the demands and expectations of others, your own finances often take second place. As a result, you are likely spending far more time reviewing your company's quarterly performance than your personal financial strategy. We focus on your personal financial needs, bringing together a unique combination of experience, expertise and insight to develop tailored solutions that address your financial needs and family goals.
    Icon Image
    High net worth young investors
Managing substantial amounts of wealth can pose challenges that individual investors who are not financial professionals might find difficult to imagine. High-net-worth individuals (HNWI) enjoy many advantages, one of which is the ability to make bets on a wide spectrum of investment opportunities. But that advantage is a double-edged sword. Every opportunity that it offers also entails risk. We have specialized financial skills, to help guide wealthy families and individuals through this intricate maze.
    Icon Image
    Mid-career professionals and their families
Making the right early- and mid-career choices is crucial to retirement investing success. We can help to implement a strategy tailored to you aimed at helping you to prepare for retirement by considering saving, education planning, tax considerations, and investment strategies that are right for you while keeping a close eye on the market to adjust wherever necessary. We can provide value developing unique wealth strategies for you and your family to help you to achieve your short- and long-term goals.
    Icon Image
    Nonprofit organizations
We work with nonprofit organizations to provide strategic recommendations to address their mission-critical challenges. We aim to create real, measurable impact for both the nonprofits and the communities that they serve through tailored recommendations to help with budgeting, managing expenses, making well-informed decisions, and seeking long-term financial sustainability.
    Icon Image
    Seniors near or in retirement
Seniors nearing and in retirement have a lot of considerations to keep in mind. Whether you have personal considerations as you near retirement (retirement income planning, minimizing taxes, the fear of the unknown, the risks to your retirement during transition), or you are focused on keeping more of your savings in retirement (managing retirement spending, minimizing tax impact, health care planning, risks to retirement) we can help you to prepare!

Meet The Shuler Pokorny Group

About Daniel Shuler

Sir Isaac Newton said, "I can predict the movement of heavenly bodies, but not the madness of men." He said this after losing a significant portion of his family’s wealth in the South Sea Bubble in 1720. My passion for finance and determination for learning from the past has been instrumental in helping me navigate the technology bubble in the late 1990's, real estate bubble in the mid 2000’s and most recently the credit bubble bursting in 2008. My primary focus is in helping affluent families and select institutional clients develop investment strategies that fuse discipline with goal-based investing.  I harness my knowledge of the financial markets to provide investment strategies and a multi-generational service model.

My investment philosophy is centered on the fundamentals of value investing; however, I respect the power of human behavior driving values to extremes both high and low. I have the knowledge, drive, and desire, along with 23 years of professional experience, to help clients navigate turbulent markets and achieve their financial goals.

9The returns on a portfolio consisting primarily of Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) aware investments may be lower or higher than a portfolio that is more diversified or where decisions are based solely on investment considerations. Because ESG criteria exclude some investments, investors may not be able to take advantage of the same opportunities or market trends as investors that do not use such criteria. Diversification does not guarantee a profit or protect against loss in a declining financial market.
