The Scott Lewis Group at Morgan Stanley

Our Mission Statement
Our Story and Services
The Scott Lewis Group is a team of professionals, relentlessly focused on building genuine relationships, to make an impactful difference in the lives of our clients. The achievement of your financial and life goals is possible with the guidance of a dedicated and versatile wealth management group. Our client first approach identifies your most important needs and goals in order to construct a wealth management plan that is uniquely yours. Through each step of your own journey, we provide personalized advice and unwavering support to help make sure you have every opportunity to achieve your most ambitious life goals. We will apply a "blue collar" work ethic and work as hard for you, as you work for your money. As our team often says, "wealth doesn't just happen, it is a planned event," and we would like to help you plan for your future events.
Serve
We focus in working with the mass affluent, these investors are typically extremely driven, successful and intelligent individuals. We realize that many of our clients have the capability to self-direct their wealth management, if they wanted to invest the time and energy. That is why we put such at high emphasis on SERVICE. Our goal is to pay meticulous attention to detail on all the necessary, yet mundane tasks, so our clients can spend more doing things they enjoy. Our experienced support professionals will make sure to reach out proactively to help ensure regularly scheduled reviews are completed, to keep clients on track to meet their goals.
Educate
We are continually honing our craft to better ourselves for our clients. EDUCATION starts internally with our team. We subscribe to being life learners, consistently striving for new financial designations, degrees, and licensing. While at the same time, incorporating the latest financial technology tools into our practice. We then shift our educational goal to learning about our client. We typically say the hardest part of our job is getting to know the person, behind the portfolio. Before we can give quality advice, we must first EDUCATE ourselves on our client. We need to start with the end in mind, by learning our client's hopes, dreams, and goals. Only then can we begin to formulate a path forward. The last step is to EDUCATE our client on all the options, perils and items they will need to consider in an effort to accomplish their goals. Our clients are smart and don't necessarily need recommendations, they need to be educated on topics of their interest, to give them the resources and knowledge to make sound financial decisions.
Lead
Emotions can be a large part of anyone's financial journey. We will LEAD our clients through volatile times in their life and the market, with non-emotional, academically grounded advice. We will LEAD with quality ideas that are centered around client stated objectives. We will LEAD by collaborating with other professionals, our clients work with and depend on, such as CPA's and Estate planning Attorneys. We will LEAD by example in our own personal and financial lives.
Invest
Investing appropriately, is the bi-product of our first three pillars. We will use the depth and breadth of the firm's resources to potentially maximize return while seeking to reduce risk. As the saying goes buyers are born and sellers are educated. We will assist in the inception, monitoring, and the eventual sale of assets under management. Our goal is to help build, preserve and transfer wealth, though generational wealth planning and investing.
Choosing a financial planner may be one of the most important decisions you make for yourself and your loved ones. Financial planners can provide you and your family with guidance over your lifetime, or work with you to address specific concerns as needed. A planner can play a central role in helping you meet your life goals and achieve financial well-being. Consequently, take the time to select a financial planner who is competent and dedicated, one on whom you can depend for professional advice and services. Your future depends on the choices you make.
By implementing our six-step process, we will utilize a holistic approach to wealth management. We help to identify your most important needs and goals in order to construct a financial plan that is uniquely yours. This is your journey; we simply want to provide personalized advice and unwavering support to make sure you have every opportunity to achieve your most ambitious life goals. As our team often says, "wealth doesn't just happen, it is a planned event," and we would like to help you plan for your future.
Unlike many financial advisors, CFP® professionals must develop their theoretical and practical knowledge by completing a comprehensive course of study at a college or university offering a financial planning curriculum approved by CFP Board.
Examination:
CFP® professionals must pass the comprehensive CFP® Certification Exam, which tests their abilities to apply financial planning knowledge to real-life situations.
Ethics:
When it comes to ethics and professional responsibility, CFP® professionals are held to the highest of standards. They are obliged to uphold the principles of integrity, objectivity, competence, fairness, confidentiality, professionalism and diligence as outlined in CFP Board's Code of Ethics. The Rules of Conduct require CFP® professionals to put your interests ahead of their own at all times and to provide their financial planning services in the best interest of their financial planning clients.
Most people think all financial planners are "certified," but this isn't true. Anyone can use the title "financial planner", but only those who have fulfilled the certification and renewal requirements of CFP Board can display the CFP® certification trademarks. This represents a high level of competency, ethics and professionalism. Because they are held to a fiduciary standard of care, a CFP® professional is required to act in your best interest.
The RICP® is the nation's leading credential for building integrated and comprehensive retirement income plans. A key focus is understanding, choosing, and executing a sustainable retirement income strategy from available resources—whether that means using systematic withdrawals from a portfolio, building a retirement income floor with bonds or annuities, or using a bucket strategy. The program, developed by more than 45 of the nation's top financial retirement advisors, provides RICP® credential holders with best practices in areas including:
• Social Security claiming
• Evaluating and addressing risks faced in retirement financial planning
• Choosing distributions from employer sponsored retirement financial plans
• Medicare and other health insurance choices
• Planning for long-term care needs
• Choosing appropriate housing
• Retirement income tax and legacy planning.
The Scott Lewis Group takes a client centric approach to comprehensive wealth planning by providing solutions for every step of your life; such as helping build, preserve, and transferring wealth. Once the planning has been done, our work is just beginning. We then will proactively monitor your progress to help ensure you're on track to achieve you short term and long term goals. Your plan is always a work in progress and it is never complete, but through consistent communication and team work we hope to make your financial planning journey a success.

Scott also has completed a Collaborative Divorce Training and is considered a financial neutral.

His results-driven approach includes the development of a tailored wealth plan and a commitment to ongoing education with outstanding service. Scott works closely with his clients to simplify their lives so they may enjoy their wealth and leave the legacy they desire.
Growing up in Lansing, Scott learned first-hand the joys and challenges of being an entrepreneur as he watched his parents run a successful plumbing business in town. Their achievements inspired Scott to build his own business that would be centered around his two biggest passions: finance and helping people. After graduating from Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) with a degree in Finance, Scott began his wealth management career at Hilliard Lyons in 1999 and never looked back.
Over the years, Scott has built a successful practice around advising families on how to better understand and manage their total financial wealth and health. Through a goals-based process, he works diligently to provide clients with clarity and confidence about their finances. Scott’s motivation is fueled by the significant impact he strives to have on the quality of his client’s lives.
Scott’s passion for helping clients is equaled only by his dedication to his family and community. He and his wife, Jaime, currently live in Charlotte with their two children. They realize that being parents is the most rewarding job they will ever have and having children under their roof is an opportunity that exists on a timeline. Because of this, they try to spend as much time with their children as possible coaching or watching them play sports, riding bikes, hanging out at the lake, fishing, going on family adventures, doing therapy work with their family dog, and being outdoors. Scott and Jaime are very active in a number of local organizations, including St Gerard Church, JDRF, ADA, Ele's Place, Coaches vs. Cancer and Blessing in a Back Pack.

Emma is excited to build upon these experiences and look forward to transitioning into an advisory role where she can contribute even more to clients’ financial success. Outside of work, Emma loves spending time with her two younger sisters, exploring new places, and walking her dog.
