About Courtney J. Dunn

Courtney has always had a love for people and hearing their stories. So, when a job opened at Smith Barney in 2004, she jumped at the chance to work directly with clients and Financial Advisors. She has spent the past 20 years walking with clients through life changes, along with retirement planning and execution. She was in a role as Portfolio Associate with Tom Scampini and other Financial Advisors until she decided to become a Financial Advisor herself. She now is on an official team with Tom Scampini as part of the Scampini Dunn Group at Morgan Stanley. The Group aims to integrate each client’s unique goals and objectives with tax efficient and cost-effective Financial Services and Portfolio Strategies. The Scampini Dunn Group also understands that there is a lot of noise, information, and news that busy people encounter daily so she and her team work to filter through all the information to provide confidence and clarity for clients to be able to make wise choices regarding their investments and finances to move forward. Courtney is a Financial Planning Specialist and uses her insight to help clients make educated and informed decisions that will benefit their families, businesses, and long-term goals.

Courtney has previous experience in the estate planning field and worked closing with firms in Kalamazoo to develop their estate planning documents. She is knowledgeable in estate planning strategies and language. This background has been beneficial to assisting clients with their long term, legacy planning. Courtney also ran a small business for several years as a photographer. The experience of running a small business and dealing with everything from marketing to scheduling to customer service to meeting deadlines has enabled her to work closely with small business clients and understanding the pressures they are under and optimize their business plans.

When not working on behalf of clients, Courtney is spending time with her husband and their girls. She has been married for over 15 years and has two middle school girls. Her and her husband, Derek, are very involved in their church, Kalamazoo Community Church, and the Plainwell School District. Their family loves to entertain and open their 1850’s Greek Revival home to others. Their house is often filled with lots of kids and families. Courtney believes we are built for community and should try to bless those that cross our path, so their family makes every effort to live that out daily. Her motto that she tells her girls daily is SHINE AND BE KIND!
