Welcome!

At The Santa Barbara Group, we focus on what is most important to you and your family. We provide the personalized service, skills and global resources needed to help make smart and confident decisions about your wealth. We are committed to making a meaningful difference in your life and strive to exceed your expectations every day.

Financial Strategies for Life

We believe wealth is about more than the size of your bank account. It’s about your dreams and desires, your wants and wishes, and the people and passions that give your life purpose.

Our consultative approach focuses on your full financial picture – from putting your children through college and saving for retirement to caring for aging parents and leaving a lasting legacy.

A Commitment to Collaboration

Our clients believe, as we do, in the importance of building longstanding relationships. They appreciate our dynamic team approach that is uniquely structured to put their needs and goals at the center of every decision.

Unlike most advisory groups that assign a primary advisor to assist you, we deliver a true team experience, leveraging each advisor’s strengths, knowledge and insights. A multi-national team with a shared philosophy on wealth management and client service, we believe the diversity of our backgrounds enable us to deliver fresh ideas for today’s complex world, while creating a better overall client experience.

What Sets Us Apart

What we feel differentiates us from other advisors is our astute problem-solving skills coupled with an impassioned willingness to roll up our sleeves and identify forward-thinking strategies that help meet your objectives. We believe the more complex your situation, the more valuable we are to you and the more rewarding your overall experience will be.

We are proud of the personalized service we provide each client and welcome the opportunity to deliver the same level of excellence to you and your family now and for generations to come.

Charting a clear, confident course to financial success begins with understanding your values, priorities and aspirations. Working together, we define what is most important to you and develop the solutions to help get you there.
    Icon Image
    1: Introductory Meeting
We begin with an informal conversation to understand how we may add value to your situation. This is our opportunity to learn about you and your opportunity to learn about us so that, collectively, we can determine whether we are a good fit for each other. If together, we agree to move forward, we will then schedule a more in-depth discussion.
    Icon Image
    2: Deep Discovery
We continue the dialogue to learn about the values that shape your decisions, the concerns that keep you up at night, and identify any unique family circumstances. We explore a host of qualitative and quantitative questions and request relevant supporting documents so that we have a complete understanding of your current situation and future goals.
    Icon Image
    3: Analysis and Strategy
Here, we collaborate internally as a team to review and analyze your current and future financial situation. We prepare a first draft of your financial plan and share it with you at our next meeting. This prompts additional discussion with you and further revision to the plan as clarity surrounding your future improves. We then prepare and present a second draft that includes the specific strategies we recommend.
    Icon Image
    4: Implementation
With your approval, we begin to implement the plan. This often encompasses a broad range of strategies – from investments and insurance to lending and estate planning. If necessary, we can introduce you to additional professionals, such as a CPA or estate attorney, to help implement our recommendations.
    Icon Image
    5: Ongoing Stewardship
To ensure a personalized experience, we customize a communication plan that takes into account your preferences. We meet regularly to ensure your plan remains current and to review your progress towards achieving your goals.

His clients include local business owners and professionals as well as their families. His ultimate mission is to help clients simplify their financial lives so that they may enjoy their wealth and leave the legacy they desire.

Born and raised in Denmark, Christian moved to the United States in 1981 to attend college. He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, working at DuPont as a Field Engineer in between. In 1991, he had the opportunity to work on Wall Street for Prudential Securities in their institutional fixed income division. It is here where he discovered his true passion for finance. He moved to Morgan Stanley in 1993, and also completed his MBA in Finance and International Business at New York University’s Stern School of Business.

Christian spent 12 years working in the field of Institutional Fixed Income, with eight of those years at Morgan Stanley. After a sabbatical, he returned to Morgan Stanley in 2010 for the opportunity to share his detailed financial knowledge with individuals and families. He became a member of The Santa Barbara Group in 2014.

Leveraging his engineering and financial training, Christian takes pride in his ability to take complex financial concepts and effectively communicate them to his clients. All too often, fear drives financial decisions, becoming a major reason why many financial plans fail. Christian helps clients go beyond the noise to stay focused on achieving their goals.

He has also visited many exotic places, including the Galapagos Islands, Cuba, Namibia and Egypt. Other favorite hobbies include surfing and racing cars. About Gavin W. Kirby

Gavin Kirby is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, a Financial Advisor and the newest addition to The Santa Barbara Group. His priority as an advisor is to help clients with every aspect of their financial lives – from purchasing a new home and putting children through college to preparing for retirement and leaving a lasting legacy. Gavin believes successful people all share a common bond: They encounter important life events that require timely guidance to help them make the right financial decisions for themselves, their careers, and their families. He wants to be there each step of the way.

Growing up in the suburbs of London, England, Gavin always had an intuition with numbers and always enjoyed helping others. Pursuing a career in financial services was the perfect opportunity to bring these two passions together. With a degree in Economics from Queen Mary University of London, Gavin moved to Tampa Bay, Florida in 2013. He began his financial services career as an Anti-Money Laundering Analyst at Citibank. This led to a similar role at Raymond James, followed by a new opportunity to become a Succession and Acquisition Planning Consultant, helping Financial Advisors evaluate, negotiate and sell their practices while adhering to FINRA’s strict rules and regulations.

While he enjoyed building relationships with advisors, Gavin knew something was missing; he wanted to work more directly with clients. He made a decision that would change the trajectory of his career. He decided to become a Financial Advisor himself, moving to California in 2021 to join his cousin, Emma Bridges, at The Santa Barbara Group. Gavin has been an invaluable member of the team ever since.

With a focus on financial planning, Gavin’s goals-based process begins with asking the right questions and actively listening. This ongoing dialogue serves as the foundation for the development of a comprehensive strategy that reflects each client’s goals for the future. Gavin receives great satisfaction knowing he is helping his clients understand the complexities of their finances, so they can make more confident decisions to achieve what they want out of life.

Today, Gavin and his wife, Heather, live in the Santa Barbara area. Outside of the office, Gavin enjoys a wide array of outdoor activities from playing and watching soccer to hiking and bicycling in the mountains to kayaking and playing tennis.
