Meet The Salmond Group

About Jeryl Salmond

Jeryl Salmond is a Senior Vice President, Wealth Advisor, Senior Investment Management Consultant, and Global Sports and Entertainment Director at Morgan Stanley. He founded The Salmond Group at Morgan Stanley, a team that focuses on wealth management guidance for individuals, families, businesses and institutions. He started his career in the financial services industry in 1985 with Morgan Stanley and is highly skilled in servicing clients on wealth management, retirement planning, 401(k) management, and more.

In addition to his role as a Financial Advisor, Jeryl is an ordained minister. Building long term, personal relationships supported by faith, family and understanding each client’s unique financial situation are the pillars of his practice. At The Salmond Group, Jeryl and his team are planning and goals orientated, and are grateful to continue to serve multiple generations of families. In tandem in servicing individuals and families to help manage and preserve their wealth, Jeryl and his team supports institutions with their endowments and foundations, financial planning, charitable giving, and more.

Providing a high level of service is another mainstay of their practice. Jeryl and his team are focused on understanding and addressing their client’s goals and concerns. The Salmond Group takes great pride providing integrity, competence and compassion.

Jeryl is a former member of Morgan Stanley’s National Diversity & Inclusion Council. He received his bachelor’s degree from the Virginia Military Institute (VMI). Additionally, Jeryl completed the graduate-level Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) program through the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, and is a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association, Inc. As an ordained minister, Jeryl earned his Master of Arts degree in Bible Exposition from the Columbia International University and earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary, Evanston, Illinois. He served as an associate minister and the primary worship leader at Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia and has been leading the congregation of the Ladson Presbyterian Church in downtown Columbia as the pastor since August 2010.

Jeryl is a board member of James R Clark Memorial Sickle Cell Foundation. He resides Columbia, South Carolina with his wife, Kathy, and enjoys spending time with his family, swimming, grilling, and listening to music.

About Jeri Salmond

Jeri brings more than 15 years of industry experience to her role as a Financial Advisor and Financial Planning Specialist at The Salmond Group at Morgan Stanley, a team founded by her father in 1987. She enjoys building longstanding relationships with each of her clients, listening carefully to understand the intricate details of their personal wealth stories and helping achieve their financial dreams. For Jeri, professional achievement is measured in terms of client well-being and goal achievement. Her areas of strength include customized investment advice, financial planning and retirement planning.

Born and raised in Columbia, Jeri learned firsthand about the power of financial advice and long-term planning from her father, Jeryl Salmond, a successful advisor at Morgan Stanley for 37 years. One of her favorite memories growing up is watching her father write checks for the purchase of stocks and mutual funds. He insisted that Jeri understand the importance of saving, investing and planning for the future. With her father as her inspiration, Jeri attended the College of Charleston where she earned her degree in Psychology in 2003.

During the last two years of her college experience, Jeri had the wonderful opportunity of working as an intern at her father’s practice. She enjoyed it so much that upon graduation, she joined Wachovia (now Wells Fargo) as a Customer Service Representative. It was during this experience that Jeri learned how to effectively communicate and build longstanding relationships with clients. Within two years, Jeri was promoted to a Consumer Bank Analyst, where she expanded her budgeting skills and learned more about the operational side of banking.

In 2011, Jeri officially joined The Salmond Group as a Client Service Associate. Five years later, she enrolled in the competitive Wealth Advisor Associate (WAA) Program, where she worked closely with advisers and clients throughout the firm’s Carolinas Complex. In 2018, she graduated from the WAA Program and advanced to the position of Financial Advisor. Today, Jeri enjoys helping clients attain their financial goals through a comprehensive financial planning process. She is also a member of the Women’s Advisors Forum at Morgan Stanley and is a Client Retention Specialist for the Carolinas Complex.

A strong believer in paying it forward, Jeri is very active in giving back. A member of the Columbia Parks and Recreation Board, Jeri also regularly participates in feeding the homeless in Columbia, SC and volunteers her time to help individuals suffering with HIV/AIDS. In addition to supporting those fighting with an auto-immune disease, she recently became involved in fighting for those who suffer with mental illness. In 2014, she lost her brother to the disease and has dreams of planning the first scholarship banquet in his honor.

Outside of the office, Jeri enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Tina is a Senior Client Service Associate at The Salmond Group with more than 40 years of industry experience. A results-driven professional, she enjoys building strong relationships with clients. Tina’s primary responsibilities include assisting clients quickly and efficiently as she manages the administration of new and existing accounts.

From the largest task to the smallest detail, Tina works diligently to exceed client expectations. Her core responsibilities are essential to enabling the team to carry out its mission of helping financially successful individuals and families plan, invest, and lead fulfilling lives. She has great respect for her clients and teammates and enjoys playing an important role in the ongoing management of client assets.

Outside of the office, Tina loves to travel with a special place in her heart for the mountains. She and her husband, Jerry, have been married for over 40 years and look forward to spending quality time with their son and daughter-in-law.

About Teanna McFarland

TeAnna is the newest member of The Salmond Group. She excelled as a banker for many years prior to joining Morgan Stanley. As a client service associate, TeAnna focuses on client relationship building as well as building the team brand. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her son.

Jared Bush is a Private Banker serving Morgan Stanley Wealth Management offices in the Carolinas.

Jared began his career in financial services in 2004, and joined Morgan Stanley in 2016. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Wealth Management Banker at Merrill Lynch. He also served as a Premier Client Manager at Bank of America and as a Licensed Financial Specialist at Wells Fargo.
