Our Process

Our clients look to us for advice that includes their investments but goes far beyond to encompass business planning, investment management, lending strategies and other dimensions of their financial lives. That is why we employ a comprehensive financial planning approach that consists of the following steps:

    Step 1: Initial Call
    An Initial Call in which we’ll discuss what you hope to get from a relationship with us. We'll ask you about your previous experiences with Financial Advisors or on your own. And we’ll discuss what you perceive to be your major objectives and potential obstacles to achieving them.

    Step 2: Discovery Meeting
    A Discovery Meeting in which we will take inventory of your finances and what you want your wealth to accomplish. We’ll identify your goals, attempt to quantify their cost, and determine whether you have the resources to achieve them within your required timeframe.

    Step 3: Plan Presentation
    A Plan Presentation Meeting in which We'll present your financial plan and the strategies it suggests for filling any gaps between your goals and resources. Your plan will contain an asset allocation based on the size of those gaps and your risk tolerance.

    Step 4: Plan Implementation
    Plan Implementation that involves bringing your plan to life. This may entail additional consultation with Morgan Stanley professionals who focus on business planning, lending strategies and other disciplines relevant to your situation. It will also involve the development of a personalized investment strategy.

    Step 5: Ongoing Evaluation
    Ongoing Evaluation to help us determine whether you are proceeding toward your financial destination as anticipated. We monitor your performance on an ongoing basis and may alter our strategies to accommodate changing circumstances in your life or trends in the financial markets.

About Me

Colton began his career as a Financial Advisor in the financial services industry in 2012, where he focused on serving high net worth individuals and family offices. After teaming up with Keith Rowling in 2017 and spending the last 8 years at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, Colton joined Morgan Stanley in 2025.

As part of the Rowling Group, Colton continues to serve the wealthy families who have entrusted the team with providing prudent investment advice. Specifically, he focuses on cash management solutions, dividend-growth stocks, opportunistic capital markets ideas, and select Alternative Investments. Colton’s practice is built on a foundation of respect and appreciation for what his clients have worked hard to achieve. By leveraging the intellectual capital of Morgan Stanley and offering access to the banking & lending capabilities of the firm, he is able to provide unique and relevant strategies to the often complex situations clients face.

Colton was born and raised in Laredo, Texas and attended TMI-Episcopal in San Antonio. He graduated from Washington & Lee University with a Bachelor of Science degree. During his free time, Colton enjoys golfing, scuba diving, and spending time with his wife, Meredith, and their English Labrador, Walter.

About Donna Bartelotti

As an experienced financial services professional, Donna is firmly committed to the continued growth and success of The Rowling Group at Morgan Stanley. Donna is responsible for leading all operations of the team, including client service, day to day functions and team member management. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2025, Donna spent he last 9 years at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management as well as 20 years at UBS prior to that. Donna works primarily with high-net-worth individuals, corporate clients and family offices. She focuses on daily trading and execution strategies and is heavily committed to customized personal service and exceptional communication.

About Peter Sandquist

After his career as a commodities trader at the CME, Peter joined The Rowling Group in the Spring of 2020 bringing to the team a full, working knowledge of the capital markets and a lifetime of experience. His focus is to bring our clients the highest level of service and knowledge in helping them to find potential financial solutions in their lives. Peter holds a BA from Brown University, previously served on the Board of Directors at Temple Beth Am in Jupiter Florida, and has been a Special Olympics basketball coach for many years. He enjoys spending time with his 5 grown children and is an avid golfer and sports enthusiast.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Tess was with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management since 2022 as a Wealth Management Client Associate after a 10-year career in Consumer Banking. She focuses on providing customized service support to clients and a high level of internal services to the advisor team. Tess enjoys being part of a group that plays a key role as the team helps clients manage their investments to pursue their desired retirement lifestyle.
