About Alan Cumming

Alan Cumming is a founding member of The RoseWest Group at Morgan Stanley. He has 20 years of experience in the financial services industry working with retail, institutional and asset management clients. Alan brings an experienced institutional investing process to clients, helping them accomplish their goals.

Previously, Alan was a lead equity trader in New York for Clearbridge Advisors, a large asset management firm, helping to execute trades across $65 Billion in assets. He later was a discretionary portfolio manager for the Outsourced Chief Investment Officer group at Morgan Stanley Consulting Group. He was one of 7 Portfolio Managers that helped manage over $24 Billion of Discretionary assets at Morgan Stanley. In that role, he partnered with Morgan Stanley financial advisors all over the country to manage their most sophisticated relationships. He primarily focused on High-Net-Worth investors, Taft-Hartley plans, Defined Benefit plans, Foundations and Pooled Investment vehicles.

Alan completed his MBA at New York University’s Stern School of Business, specializing in Finance and Accounting. In 2017, he completed the Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, The CIMA® is a cutting-edge technical portfolio construction designation for investment consultants, advisors and financial advisors. Alan continued his advanced education and completed the Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®) at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 2021. The curriculum is designed for wealth managers who work with high net-worth clients and takes a holistic and multidisciplinary approach that includes sophisticated wealth strategies, estate planning, wealth transfer, behavioral finance, family dynamics, tax management and legacy planning. In 2023, Alan also earned his CEPA® designation, which allows him to specialize in helping business owners develop and execute a plan to exit their business.

Alan is married to his college sweetheart, Sarah, and together they are raising two rambunctious boys, Charlie and Caedmon. They are grateful to be back at home in East Texas closer to their families and with more space.

Alan is currently on the Board for Leadership Tyler and Philanthropy in Action. He previously served as a Trustee at Promise Academy - a private Christian school founded by his wife - that focuses on offering all children and their families an opportunity for a private education. He is a past president for the East Texas Estate Planning Council and participates as a member of the Association of Professional Investment Consultants.

About Terri Brown

Since joining Morgan Stanley in 2010, Terri has focused on helping families and small business owners build and maintain lasting financial legacies. She is highly regarded for her experience in wealth planning, business succession, generational wealth transfers, philanthropic strategies, and alternative investments, offering tailored solutions to meet her clients’ financial goals.

Terri is a Texas native but has traveled and transitioned her career alongside her husband Aaron’s US Navy career. She started her financial services career in Institutional Wealth Management in 2007 and moved into personal wealth management when she joined Morgan Stanley.

In the ever-evolving world of finance, Terri knows the importance of staying educated. She has achieved her Certified Financial Planner (CFP®)- a designation that demonstrates an ongoing commitment to thoughtful financial advice, continuing education, and the highest ethical standards. In addition, Terri earned the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) designation, which allows her to guide business owners through the process of selling their businesses and making key decisions along the way. She is also a Portfolio Manager and Director of Alternative Investments here at Morgan Stanley and a regular speaker at events in the cleaning and restoration industry, where she provides valuable insights and guidance to professionals in the field.

About Grant Wheat

Grant Wheat began his career in finance in 2016 after graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Finance from Texas A&M University in 2013. As the Wealth Management Associate for the Cumming & Loggins Group at Morgan Stanley, Grant’s primary responsibilities include proactively cultivating client relationships, implementation of proposed investment strategies, and collaborating with clients to fashion financial plans unique to the each and every client.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Grant was a Junior Financial Advisor with UBS for two years where he focused on meeting the financial planning and investment needs of small business owners and retirees. He then spent a year as a Team Lead Banker with Regions Financial where he and his team helped clients to balance cashflow and lending needs.

Though Grant enjoys his career, his other passions include watching the performing arts, fine whiskeys, gardening, and the peace and quiet of a good book. He lives in the small town of Mineola, Texas.

About Melanie Vance

Melanie was born and raised in Tyler, Texas, where she attended John Tyler High School and Tyler Junior College.
She was a proud member of the world-famous Tyler Junior College Apache Belles, where she met the love of her life, Rodney Vance. Melanie was also part of the first three-generation Apache Belles. Her mother was a Belle in 1953, Melanie followed in 1984-1986, and her daughter continued the legacy as a Belle from 2008-2010. Melanie and Rodney have two children, Natalie and Chandlor, both of whom are now grown, married, and raising families of their own. They are the proud grandparents of three grandsons (no future Apache Belle just yet!).

Melanie began her career in financial services in 1987 at PaineWebber in Memphis, Tennessee, where she and Rodney lived for a little over a year. After returning to Tyler, she found her way back to the financial services industry, joining Dean Witter, which eventually became Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and later Morgan Stanley. With over 30 years of experience, Melanie has cultivated deep knowledge and expertise in the financial industry, becoming a trusted resource for her clients.

Melanie is deeply committed to building lasting relationships with her clients. Over the years, she has worked closely with many families, often developing connections that span multiple generations. Her ability to provide personalized service, combined with her long-standing dedication to helping clients achieve their financial goals, has earned her their loyalty and trust.

When she’s not working, Melanie enjoys traveling with Rodney and spending time with their kids and grandkids.

About Ashley Mackay

Ashley joined Morgan Stanley in 2018 as a Registered Client Service Associate. She currently works for the team as a Wealth Management Associate and plays a vital role as she is often the first point of contact for clients calling in with questions about their accounts. Ashley handles various administrative tasks, such as opening accounts , ensuring that paperwork is properly filled out and processed. She also specializes in client cash management needs, including deposits, transfers, and withdrawals. She currently holds a series 7 and 66 license with FINRA allowing her to assist client with trades.

Originally from Maryland, Ashley is a graduate of Louisiana State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications. When away from work Ashley and her husband, Nathan, enjoy spending time with their young children and traveling.

About Elizabeth Chand

Elizabeth Chand leads the Family Office Resource Generalist team and also covers the Central Region. As a FOR Generalist Elizabeth provides specialized expertise to Financial Advisors and their UHNW clients, educating and advising across a broad spectrum of family wealth management concerns, including family legacy and governance, customized wealth education for the next generation, lifestyle advisory and concierge services, strategic estate and financial planning, and philanthropy management.

Most recently, Elizabeth worked with New York Life in their Advanced Planning Group. She worked with agents and their UHNW clients to advise them on issues of estate and legacy planning as well as business succession planning. Prior to New York Life she ran a boutique estate planning law firm in Southern California working with high net worth families and businesses. Her practice focused exclusively on trusts and estates, probate, trust administration and tax. She has over 15 years of experience as an attorney representing individuals and business clients in connection with the development and implementation of sophisticated estate planning strategies and techniques.

Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and her J.D. degree from Chapman University School of Law where she graduated Cum Laude.
