Our Story

While formed in 2008, the roots of the Riverside Group at Morgan Stanley date back to 1996. Over that time we have helped clients navigate their ever changing lives as well as changing market conditions. While the team roster may have changed over the years, one thing remains the same, providing holistic advice to help our clients achieve their goals is still our top priority.

As a team we have diverse backgrounds and experiences that we believe complement each other and allow us to provide exemplary wealth management for our clients. Our process begins with comprehensive financial planning that lays out a road map for us to travel down with our clients. For this “road map” we assume the role of the guide and lead our clients through the journey by providing professional portfolio management, cash management services, and alternative investment allocations where appropriate.

Our Process

At the Riverside Group we believe holistic financial planning isn’t just an exercise in gathering data, but rather an in depth look into our clients’ financial lives to understand them fully and be able to confidently become their trusted advisors. We provide comprehensive wealth planning strategies to individuals and their families through our process below.

- Discovery
We begin with an in-depth conversation around you, your values, and your goals. During this conversation we begin to gather the details that make your situation unique and discuss any immediate concerns or obstacles that you may have.

- Analysis and Plan Development
We then analyze all the information we have gathered and develop a customized, comprehensive financial plan and investment proposal designed to fully covers your needs.

- Recommendations and Implementation
After we have reviewed the plan and agreed upon the recommendations with you, we begin the implementation process. Here you can expect us to handle the details of account opening, investment allocation, and plan implementation. We will keep you updated on the progress, while you allow us to worry about the details.

- Monitoring
Once we have implemented the recommendations, our proprietary monitoring software keeps clients up to date on where they stand relative to their goals and we keep the plan up to date through ongoing calls and meetings.

- Adjustment
We know that life doesn’t always go according to plan, but through the years of working with our clients we have found that small adjustments along the way can help adapt to changing life circumstances and ever changing market conditions.

About Bowman Thrasher

Bowman is a Certified Financial PlannerTM professional with the Riverside Group. His primary focuses are financial planning and client relationships. Bowman has been with the Riverside Group since coming to Morgan Stanley in 2017. He previously worked in banking/financial services for five years after completing his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Finance with a minor in Quantitative Methods from Franklin College. While attending Franklin College, Bowman competed as a member of the Franklin Grizzlies football team for two years.

Bowman is a native of southern Indiana and currently lives in Otisco, IN with his wife, Alicia, and their two sons, Steele and Griff. He enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, exercising, and improving his woodworking skills. He is also an active member of Southeast Christian Church in Indiana and a volunteer coach for his sons' sports teams.

Mike is a Certified Financial PlannerTM professional and founding member of the Riverside Group. His primary roles on the team are portfolio management and client relationships. Mike has been a part of the Riverside Group since joining Morgan Stanley in 2008. He previously worked as a Certified Public Accountant after completing his Bachelor of Science in Business and Master of Business Administration degrees at Indiana University Bloomington.

Mike is a native of Newburgh, Indiana and currently lives in Floyds Knobs, Indiana with his wife, Jenny, and their two daughters, Callie and Alyssa. He enjoys hiking, traveling and watching sports with his family. He is also an active member of Southeast Christian Church in Indiana.

About Jason Henderson

Jason is a Financial Planning Specialist and has been with the Riverside Group since coming to Morgan Stanley in 2022. He focuses on understanding each client’s specific needs and goals, then building a financial plan tailored to each client. He works with individuals and families to help them understand, preserve, and enhance their financial position so they may make more informed and confident decisions in achieving their long-term goals.
Jason graduated from Hartwick College in 2008 with B.S. degrees in Accounting and Biochemistry. While attending Hartwick College, he competed as a member of the Hartwick soccer team. He continued his studies, achieving his C.P.A. license in 2012 and earning his M.B.A. at Indiana University Southeast in 2015. He has spent his whole career in the financial services industry, previously working in public accounting and at a quantitative investment management firm.
Jason is a native of Southern Indiana and currently lives in Floyds Knobs, Indiana with his wife, Michele, and their three children, Carter, Harper, and Tyler. He enjoys spending time with his family, being active and outside, coaching his kids in sports, and carpentry. He is also an active member of Graceland Lutheran Church in Indiana.
