Our Story and Services

The Pharus Group – founded by partners Doug Charles and Steve Robinson – began over 18 years ago, when Doug and Steve realized the importance of drawing upon different skill-sets and varying experiences to deliver comprehensive wealth management services for affluent families and help meet the ever-growing investment consulting needs of corporations and institutions. The team expanded again in 2004 with the addition of partner Brian Nickerson, and today is comprised of three advisors and a dedicated client service associate operating out of Alpharetta, GA with clients throughout the US.

At our core, our team believes that financial advisory services have evolved into far more than simply selecting, managing and reviewing an investment portfolio. To us, it means applying a disciplined process to the assessment of your financial goals and challenges, developing a comprehensive plan, and implementing appropriate strategies to help achieve the desired outcome(s). Through Morgan Stanley, our team has access to a full spectrum of financial solutions designed to help our clients achieve their objectives.

We’ve built our practice on sound financial strategies, personalized service and long-term client relationships. We work with you, helping empower you to realize the future you envision while navigating the challenges of today.

Corporate Services

As retirement plan advisors and consultants, we aim to improve the state of retirement readiness through effective plan management and thoughtful participant engagement.

The Pharus Group works with companies and organizations of varying size across the US – from small family businesses with few employees to national companies with hundreds of employees – providing consulting services with respect to retirement plan installation, management and oversight. Our hands-on process aligns us with our organization and positions us as an extension of the company's own HR/benefits team. We have the experience and knowledge to work with you on all types of corporate plans, with a focus on 3 areas:

401(k) and similar Defined Contribution Plans (both for- and non-profit organizations)

Cash Balance and Defined Benefit Plans

Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation Plans

Our consulting services allow us to work with your organization to help you with your fiduciary responsibilities.

Some of the services that we can provide are highlighted below:

Monitor the creation, education, operation and governance of a Plan Investment Committee

Act as liaison on behalf of the plan with other service providers, such as record-keepers and third party administrators

Lead on-going monitoring/review of customized investment menus and strategies

Utilize plan benchmarking capabilities to periodically review and validate key facets of plan with respect to current industry landscape

Provide RFP management services as needed to assess and select new service providers

We are proud of Steve's Corporate Retirement Director (CRD) designation. The CRD is a title awarded to less than 2% of all Morgan Stanley Advisors as of October 2017 and validates our experience, our skill-set and our dedication to our clients.

Our process begins as we assess and understand the business owner/management objectives, allowing us to help construct and manage a plan designed to help achieve the desired outcomes for both the plan sponsor and your participants. We engage meaningfully and regularly with your plan on all levels including ownership/management, plan committees and – most importantly – your plan participants, offering 1:1 interactions for your participants with our team’s financial advisors.
As financial advisors to your family, we leverage a process-led and planning-driven approach to align your investment strategies with your short-, medium- and long-term goals and objectives.

The Pharus Group works with you and your family to identify and assess your financial and investment planning needs, assisting you in planning for your future while adapting to the challenges of today. We can also coordinate effectively with your tax, legal and other professional partners to help ensure our varying points-of-view work in tandem for your benefit. Our areas of focus and experience are below:
