At the Pelorus Group at Morgan Stanley, we help busy, successful individuals and families find their financial bearings, with a focus on guiding them to the future they envision. With 70 years of combined experience and two team Certified Financial Planners, we are here to assist with key facets of wealth management, including tax planning, portfolio construction, risk management, insurance analysis and estate planning.

We take pride in having many of our clients entrust us with inter-generational wealth. With a wide-angle view that looks beyond a single household, we assist clients and their extended families with the efficient transfer of wealth, whether it is creating a multi-generational legacy or fulfilling a philanthropic endeavor.

Over the last few years, the ever-changing investment landscape has brought many challenges, but also many opportunities.     At the Pelorus Group, we have decades of experience advising international clients with investments in the U.S. and globally. Some clients are looking to relocate abroad, while others are expatriates returning to the U.S. Often, these clients have family members residing in the U.S. In these and other situations, our extensive cross-border knowledge is critical for understanding the regulations around acceptable investment vehicles, the potential tax impact of gifting and the nuances of estate planning. We work closely with our clients, their tax and estate attorneys, and offshore trust companies in creating private investment companies or trusts to navigate the guidelines efficiently and effectively, both onshore and offshore.

      About Mickey Hong

      With more than 25 years of wealth management experience, Mickey brings a rare blend of deep technical knowledge and practical, real-world perspective to help individuals and families achieve their vision of financial success. She works closely with entrepreneurs and corporate executives and is skilled at navigating the complexities of concentrated stock positions in both public and privately held companies. As an International Client Advisor, Mickey also has extensive experience working with families with offshore ties, offering thoughtful guidance designed to coordinate planning across jurisdictions, priorities, and generations.

      As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, a Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®), and a Family Wealth Director, she delivers integrated advice across tax planning, portfolio management, and estate planning, helping clients make informed decisions through changing markets and life transitions. Clients often value her steady, consultative approach and her ability to translate complex planning considerations into clear next steps.

      A hallmark of Mickey’s practice is the longevity of her client relationships—many spanning more than a decade. That continuity enables her to develop deep, personal understanding of what matters most to clients and to steward them from their peak earning years into retirement. It also allows her to collaborate with multiple generations within a family, supporting the kind of long-range legacy planning that can be both unique and vital.

      Mickey has lived in the Bay Area for most of her life. She earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese. Outside of the office, Mickey enjoys traveling, hiking, and tennis, and she supports Cameron House, a local nonprofit that empowers Chinese Americans to participate in and contribute toward a healthy society.

      About Gavin Wong

      Gavin is fascinated with the capital markets and takes an analytical approach to helping clients solve for their most important goals. His primary responsibilities include developing customized asset allocation strategies, performing individual equity and investment management screening and analysis, monitoring, and evaluating client portfolios to measure performance and manage risk. Through diligent macroeconomic study and research, Gavin also develops crucial insights into the markets.

      Gavin joined Morgan Stanley in 2006 after earning his BS in Business Administration with a concentration in finance from San Jose State University. Realizing the importance of taking a comprehensive approach to wealth management, he earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation in 2012. Today, Gavin integrates all elements of financial planning into his wealth management process. He is an avid explorer of new technology and enjoys leveraging the latest innovation in financial tools for the benefit of clients.

      Born and raised in San Francisco, Gavin is a loyal Giants fan and an ardent follower of the Golden State Warriors. With an appreciation for gourmet cooking, Gavin and his wife, Bernice, enjoy trying out the newest restaurant openings in the city. On the weekends, they can usually be found in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes and baking cookies with their 2 young boys.

      About Victor Chan

      As a Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley, Victor works with corporate executives and business owners, bringing deep financial experience and a goals-based planning approach designed to help clients make informed decisions across tax efficiency, risk management, and investment opportunities. He works with clients to bring structure to complex financial lives—aligning strategy with what matters most today while positioning for long-term outcomes.

      Victor also offers a global perspective for high-net-worth families, particularly those with international ties. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, he served as a consultant to some of the largest banks in Asia, advising on investment strategy, portfolio construction, and risk management. That experience helped shape a broad, international viewpoint when evaluating opportunities across markets. Victor is known for his cultural fluency and his ability to connect with families whose lives, businesses, and assets span multiple countries.

      He holds dual master’s degrees from Stanford University and the London School of Economics. He is proficient in both Mandarin and Cantonese. Outside the office, Victor enjoys staying connected with the international student community, supporting the Scouts, and cheering on all things Cardinal.

      About Alison Wharton

      A native of India, Alison immigrated to the Bay Area in 1988 and has been working in the financial services industry since then. After starting her career at Bank of America, she came to Morgan Stanley in 2003. As an experienced client service associate, she can be relied upon to work tirelessly with the back office to get issues resolved and will often take the initiative to rectify a potential challenge before it is flagged. Beyond her competence, Alison is approachable and accommodating, which gives clients a high level of comfort and assurance when working with her.

      Outside of the office, Alison and her husband Roger are active members of their church and supporters of Calcutta Tiljallah Relief, a non-profit that helps seniors and children in India. They have two grown daughters and their entire family is enamored by their goldendoodle, Macie.

      About Alicia Chen

      As a Wealth Management Analyst, Alicia helps clients translate what matters most to them into a clear, actionable financial plan. She partners with the advisory team to align client goals with a comprehensive strategy, identify portfolio vulnerabilities, and recommend practical investment solutions—so clients can move forward with confidence and purpose.

      With 25 years at Morgan Stanley, Alicia brings a rare blend of long-standing firm experience and analytical depth. She spent 15 years in New York working in corporate strategy, where she developed a rigorous, data-driven perspective on decision-making and risk. Her background also includes analytical roles across P&L analysis, budgeting, and compensation, giving her a strong foundation for evaluating trade-offs, stress-testing assumptions, and helping clients understand the “why” behind each recommendation.

      Born in Australia and raised in New Jersey, Alicia brings both global perspective and down-to-earth practicality to her work. Outside the office, she enjoys time with family, baking, and exploring the Bay Area.
