Johnny brings more than 25 years of financial services experience to every client he advises. He founded The Peden Group to provide clients with comprehensive wealth management that includes not only their investments, but lending, insurance, estate planning strategies and other dimensions of their financial lives.
A native South Carolinian, Johnny graduated from Clemson University with a BS in Agricultural Mechanization and Business. For the next twelve years, he worked in the farm implement sales business before following what had become his passion for financial markets and joining Morgan Stanley.
With many of his former farming equipment customers now his clients, Johnny realized that many successful people don’t have the time to monitor markets, research companies and manage their investment portfolios. He became a Morgan Stanley Portfolio Management Director with the credentials to manage client assets and relieve clients of day-to-day investment decisions they would rather not make on their own. Over the years, he has developed several portfolio models for investors with differing objectives and risk tolerances.
Johnny and his wife Lisa, who joined the team in 2018, reside in Fountain Inn, SC where they are active members of the community. Among the organizations they support are March of Dimes and Fairview Presbyterian Church.

David Rice, CFP®, is a Senior Portfolio Manager and Certified Financial Planner® with more than 25 years of experience helping clients pursue their financial goals. He focuses in comprehensive financial planning and investment management, working closely with clients and coordinating with their CPAs and estate planning attorneys to develop comprehensive strategies tailored to their unique needs.
David has been with Morgan Stanley since 2002 and serves clients from the firm’s Greenville and Spartanburg, South Carolina offices. Peden brings strong analytical skills and planning experience to Peden Group clients. He plays a key role in the team’s financial planning efforts, formulating plans that help clients pursue their goals more effectively. Typically, these plans encompass such client concerns as retiring comfortably, minimizing risk and leaving a meaningful legacy to the next generation.
Peden joined The Peden Group in 2015 after beginning his financial services career as a credit analyst with a regional consumer loan provider. He also interned at Northwestern Mutual while attending The University of South Carolina Upstate where he earned a BA in Finance and Economics.
Like Johnny Peden, Peden was born and raised in Fountain Inn, South Carolina on the same farmland where their family settled almost 250 years ago. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children.

About Ashley Fowler
Ashley is a native of Liberty, South Carolina but relocated to Greenville, South Carolina after graduating. She is a 2019 graduate of North Greenville University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Ashley began her career in the financial industry at UBS Financial Services, Inc. in 2018 as an intern while in school, and stepped into a full-time client service associate role upon graduating. She is passionate about helping clients reach their financial objectives, and ensuring clients receive the highest level of service.
In addition to her work and education, Ashley enjoys spending time with her friends and family, traveling, and giving back in the community.

Lisa grew up in Sumter, SC and is a 1983 graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She worked with AgSouth Farm Credit for over 34 years in accounting and operations prior to shifting her focus to HR and becoming the Chief Human Resources Officer before retiring in December of 2017. Her experience in her previous career of Human Resources is beneficial to the team as we focus on building and strengthening client relationships.

With 10 years in the financial services industry, Shari handles a variety of client needs such as trades, money movement, and legal processing. She started her career with Wells Fargo before coming to Morgan Stanley. Shari, a South Carolina native, graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BS in Biology.
Shari and her husband Robert have 4 dogs: Joy, Tyra, Mya (all Shih Tzu mix) and Cooper (Labradoodle). Outside of work, she enjoys maintaining her vegetable and flower garden.
