Parker Lewallen, an Alternative Investments Director, can provide clients with further guidance, insights and thought leadership about the alternative investments asset class and strategies provided by Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.

Alternative investments are often speculative and include a high degree of risk. Investors can lose all or a substantial amount of their investment. They may be highly illiquid, can engage in leverage, short-selling and other speculative practices that may increase volatility and the risk of loss, and may be subject to large investment minimums and initial lock-ups. They may involve complex tax structures, tax inefficient investing and delays in distributing important tax information. They may have higher fees and expenses that traditional investments, and such fees and expenses can lower the returns achieved by investors.

Meet The Parker-Lewallen Group

About John W Parker

As a Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley for over two decades, Jack Parker relies on his extensive financial services experience to help develop portfolios that are customized to each client and their unique circumstances and objectives.

Jack believes that a process and strategy that focuses on the fundamentals is the bedrock upon which a long-term wealth plan is built. As such, he prides himself on his ability to identify and address holes in new clients' current financial plans, articulate long-term goals, and design portfolios that can provide a high probability of success in helping reach those goals.

Before joining Morgan Stanley in 2000, Jack spent 30 years at the regional banks of Union Planners Corporation and First Commerce Corporation. Throughout this time, Jack served as a Trust Investment Portfolio Manager, a Bank Investment Portfolio Manager and a Senior Loan Officer. Eventually, Jack would rise to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, where he oversaw the management of the banks' investment portfolios. While serving as CFO of Union he was involved in the acquisition of banks over his tenure in this position. This experience has instilled in Jack the belief that effective management of both sides of a balance sheet, whether it is a client's or a corporation's, is essential in helping to maintain financial health and achieve goals. For this reason, Jack seeks to manage his clients' finances like an institution, with a focus on diversification, risk-reduction.

Jack has co-authored a book and has been selected as a national speaker on the topics of investments and asset/liability management. Jack is a proud alumnus of the University of Memphis, where he received his BBA in Accounting, and his MBA in Finance.

Outside work, Jack is a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and enjoys golf, reading, chess, and cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals and the University of Memphis Tigers. He is also a supporter of Shelby Farms Park, one of the largest urban parks in the country. Jack and his wife of over 50 years, Gloria Harp Parker, have two grown children, Stefanie and Brian, as well as three grandchildren, Parker, Zach, and Corley. His oldest grandchild, Parker Lewallen, is now his partner at The Parker-Lewallen Group at Morgan Stanley.
