About Us

We know that money is a significant source of stress-more so than work, health, and family. Chronic financial stress is often times associated with serious health, occupational, and relational problems.´1 The Old Town Group wants to be your stress relievers. Helping you meet your goals, however you chose to define them, is the benchmark we ask you to measure us by.

The Old Town Group wants to help you achieve more consistent results from your portfolio. We feel that we can help you see more consistent results by taking modest positions, diversifying amongst many assets classes, and using many investment vehicles. While we cannot eliminate all the volatility that is inherent to the market, we believe that more diversification will lower the volatility of a portfolio.

Often times we are asked to define our value added proposition. In this competitive environment where ideas flow so quickly, what can we deliver to you? We can’t promise you a specific return on your portfolio, but we can promise to provide excellent service, level set expectations, be ‘active listeners’, and keep current on new rules, regulations and investment solutions.

We know that investing other people’s money is a great responsibility and one that is based upon integrity and trust. Integrity isn’t something that can be turned ‘on or off’ - it is constant. We strive to be good stewards of your money and we promise to do so.

The discretionary portfolios we implement are structurally different from those offered by other investment companies and advisors. Our discretionary portfolios offer a tremendous breadth of investment vehicles that include: individual stocks, exchange traded funds, individual bonds, and both closed and open end mutual funds. This flexibility allows us to invest in high conviction stock ideas as well as broad themes through the use of sector funds.

Our benchmark for equities is the MSCI ACWI Index as our portfolios are geographically diverse and invested in companies of all capitalizations. Our fixed income benchmark is the Barclays Capital Corporate Bond Index.

Our clients have ‘blended’ portfolios (static and tactical; growth and fixed income) which allows us to seek to be both tax-efficient and control management fees. While our portfolios can be customized to accommodate legacy positions, we implement asset allocation models that align to your goals and objectives with flexibility to be ‘bullish’ or ‘bearish’ as market conditions warrant.

Meet The Old Town Group

About Mark Rizzieri

I am a native of Geneva, New York in the Finger Lakes region of central New York, but I have called Northern Virginia my home since 1990. I graduated from the University of Notre Dame where I was Vice President of my dormitory, a resident assistant, recipient of the dorm’s citizenship award and a member of the varsity lacrosse team. I earned a Master of Arts from The George Washington University in 1993. My wife (Leigh Ann), daughter (Payton) and two dogs live in Alexandria, Virginia. Spare time activities include working around the yard, spending time with my ladies and biking.
My career in wealth management began in 1995 when I started working for Dean Witter Reynolds. The financial services industry has proven to be both a wonderful career choice and I am proud to work at Morgan Stanley. I have learned over my career that financial planning is truly a unique profession comprising many distinct disciplines: business, behavioral finance, economics, emotional intelligence, and empathy. I enjoy coming to work each day because every day is different, each client unique, evolving markets force me to remain current on the news of the day and every new year presents a new challenge and opportunities to grow.
I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER practitioner and I am committed to abiding to a strict code or professional conduct, known as the Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER, I practice a comprehensive approach to financial planning addressing areas of personal finance, retirement planning, college planning, investment management, tax planning strategies, wealth accumulation, cash flow analysis, insurance (permanent, term, universal and long-term care), and estate planning strategies. I do my very best to serve as a reliable resource and hope to instill a peace of mind that comes from knowing that a financial plan has been implemented to help realize specific goals and objectives. I am a member of Morgan Stanley’s prestigious Master’s Club, an elite group composed of the firm’s top Financial Advisors.

About Lindsay Spanier Yearsich

After graduating from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana with a B.S. in Business, my career started with Morgan Stanley in 2007.  I had interned the previous two summers with Maria Smith and Mark Rizzieri at Morgan Stanley and joined their team full time after graduation.  I was a fully registered Financial Advisor by January 2008, completed a Continuing Education Certificate from Georgetown University in Financial Planning, and am a Morgan Stanley designated Financial Planning Specialist.

Since I started my career at the end of 2007/ beginning of 2008 I have a distinctive perspective on advising clients.  The Old Town Group focuses on financial planning to help clients develop a strategy to manage their goals - especially during tough markets.  The planning based practice keeps clients focused on the plan that has been created and helps to eliminate the day to day worry about the markets.

I attended St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School in Alexandria, VA kindergarten through 12th grade and still call Northern Virginia home today.  In my free time I enjoy riding my horse, and taking family walks with our two dogs.

8The returns on a portfolio consisting primarily of Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) aware investments may be lower or higher than a portfolio that is more diversified or where decisions are based solely on investment considerations. Because ESG criteria exclude some investments, investors may not be able to take advantage of the same opportunities or market trends as investors that do not use such criteria. Diversification does not guarantee a profit or protect against loss in a declining financial market.
