The Oaktide Group at Morgan Stanley

Our Mission Statement
Welcome
Oaktide is a name that blends two seemingly unrelated ideas: the oak, representing strength and resilience, and the tide, symbolizing change and movement. Together, they embody the balance we strive to bring to every client — a strong foundation to navigate the complexities and uncertainties of life's financial landscape.
Our ultimate goal is to help clients achieve better outcomes. We start by addressing the most fundamental question: "Will I be OK?" Through decades of experience, we've seen that as financial success grows, so do the challenges and opportunities families face. Like the oak, our comprehensive planning process is designed to help you stand firm through life's transitions and even anticipate changes before they occur.
As experienced financial advisors, we've witnessed markets climb to unprecedented heights and fall unexpectedly in short periods of time. We've also seen even the most intelligent and experienced investors make emotionally charged decisions they later regret.
It's our mission to help clients navigate these extremes with wisdom and composure, keeping their focus on what matters most—their goals and aspirations.
Our clients include:
- Individuals and families seeking financial clarity and security.
- Retirees aiming to maintain their lifestyle without depleting their savings.
- Entrepreneurial business owners preparing for pivotal financial events or looking to reduce risk and expenses.
- Corporate executives optimizing equity compensation while managing inherent risks.
For all our clients, we engage in a comprehensive financial planning process that considers not only their investments but virtually every aspect of their financial lives. Through personalized strategies and proactive service, we aim to guide you with strength, resilience, and confidence in your financial journey.

Our Process – What Really Matters
Financial decisions are often driven not by rational analysis but by emotions—fear, uncertainty, and sometimes greed. These emotional responses can lead to life-altering consequences, especially when they are reactions to short-term events or the relentless noise from the financial industry and media.
Unfortunately, such emotional reactions often derail individuals from achieving clarity and confidence in their financial lives. For most, the greatest concern isn't chasing benchmarks or reacting to geopolitical events—it's the deeply personal question: "Will I have enough to live the life I envision?"
At The Oaktide Group at Morgan Stanley, we believe that building and preserving financial stability requires sound judgment, thoughtful planning, and trust in the future. Our process focuses on guiding you back to what truly matters - helping you make rational decisions that align with your long-term goals.
We are committed to helping you:
- Break free from bad habits that hinder progress.
- Prevent missed opportunities by taking proactive steps.
- Overcome procrastination through a structured and disciplined approach.
This is achieved through a foundation of continuous communication, mutual respect, and ongoing education.
Our mission is to guide you through life's most significant financial transitions—moments that may feel overwhelming or uncertain. Whether planning for retirement, navigating a career milestone, or preparing for a life-changing event, we work to simplify the process. Together, we break down big decisions into small, manageable steps with realistic expectations, helping empower you to embrace the present and look forward to the future with confidence and clarity.

About Fred Krokenberger
Today, Fred advises not only the clients for whom he developed those early financial plans, but their children and grandchildren. He takes pride in the recent recognition he received as a 2020 Forbes Best-in-State Wealth Advisor, but even more satisfying is the depth and longevity of his client relationships.
A Rochester native, Fred graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a BS in Business and an MBA in Finance. Throughout his long career, he has strived to enhance his knowledge by studying for and earning such prestigious industry designations as Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®). He purposely limits the number of clients he advises so he can provide all of them with the attention and service they deserve.
Recently, Fred co-founded The Oaktide Group at Morgan Stanley, a Financial Advisor team that places comprehensive financial planning at the center of everything they do. He has expanded the team’s operations to southwest Florida where he and his wife Cece spend their winters. Fred often commutes back to Rochester for client conferences and skiing, a passion he can’t pursue in Florida. However, he’s still an avid tennis player and has also taken up golf.
