Meet The Noonan Capital Group
About Me
For over a century, my family has been dedicated to helping clients achieve their financial goals, starting with my grandfather, Paul Noonan, in the early 1900s. My father, Patrick A. Noonan, a Yale graduate and US Navy Captain, joined the firm in 1952, instilling in me the core principle that guides our practice to this day: "We work for the client, the firm works for us." This client-first philosophy is the bedrock of everything we do.
My journey in finance began after a brief stint playing professional indoor soccer with the Phoenix Inferno in 1982. I joined the family firm, quickly earning my General Principal designation and managing critical aspects of our operations, including regulatory filings and early adoption of technology to manage client data. Witnessing the evolution of the financial landscape, I played a key role in navigating strategic transitions from Blunt Ellis & Loewi, Dean Witter, Smith Barney, Merrill Lynch, and ultimately returning to Morgan Stanley in 2024. These experiences provided invaluable insights into the complexities of the industry and the importance of adapting to change.
My specialization lies in corporate retirement solutions and institutional wealth management. As a Corporate Retirement Director at Morgan Stanley (a select designation held by only 2% of advisors) and a Governmental Entity Specialist, I possess the professional focus to guide organizations, from small businesses to large institutions with assets over $100 million, in developing and managing their retirement plans. I am passionate about helping clients and their workforce secure their financial futures, and I am committed to providing objective advice to help them manage their fiduciary responsibilities.
Central Illinois is more than just where I live; it's part of my heritage. My family's roots in this region date back to the Lincoln administration, with direct lineage to John Hay, a close confidant of President Lincoln. This deep understanding of the local community allows me to connect with clients on a personal level and we have built our practice by being a dedicated advisor to generations of Springfield area families, businesses, and healthcare organizations.
Outside of finance, I'm a dedicated family man, married to Michelle Noonan for 30 years, with five children. I’ve also been actively involved in the community, serving on the board of the Boys & Girls Club of Central Illinois, as Past President of the American Business Club, and Past 10-year President of the Panther Creek Homeowners Association. My passion for competition extends to coaching competitive soccer for 35 years and my own playing career where I made a Final Four appearance and was at one time ranked number 1. My creative side finds expression in music as a 34-year member of the international jazz group Dreaming in Colour, a Yamaha Drum Endorsing Artist, with multiple top 25 songs.
