      What we will do for you

      We cannot say what your plan will look like if we are fortunate enough to earn your business. But we can say that the plan we create for you will be influenced by factors such as:

      What are your current assets? Are they realistically sufficient to cover your entire retirement?
      What are your spending needs? How might they change?
      Do you want money “left over?” Do you intend to provide for children or grandchildren, or to support a philanthropic effort?
      What is your health status? Health expenses are a major priority for retirement spending. What can we infer about yours?

      Considering all that, what is an appropriate goal?
      In any situation, it’s impossible to properly create a strategy without knowing what objective you are aiming to reach. This is a complex, difficult but absolutely crucial question to answer.

      Which method of generating retirement income will drive your strategy?
      We use the terms like  “draw rate,” “income only” and “bucket method” to describe strategies to allocate assets and generate income.

      These are important questions, ones that require serious thought (do you really want to determine your retirement goal by taking a quick online quiz?). At the Myhre Hogan Group, that’s what we do with each client we work with.

          John O. Myhre
          Vice President

          A committed community leader; served on the boards of Porter Medical Center, Helen Porter Nursing Home, and the town of Middlebury Select Board. John is currently a board member of EastView at Middlebury Retirement Community and Co-operative Insurance Companies.

          Lives with his wife Peg in Weybridge. They have two grown children and enjoy running, hiking, skiing, golf and soccer.

          He leverages his credentials and experience to focus on investment planning and strategies both for and during retirement. His core beliefs about investing and retirement planning are: Invest with the minimum risk for a desired return; maintain a diverse balance of asset classes; income planning and cash flow strategy are just as important as return; always consider the costs.

          John earned his B.A. from Middlebury College, and a Masters of Science in Accounting at St. Michael’s College.

          Peter Sylvester
          Financial Advisor

          As a Financial Advisor with the Myhre Hogan Group, Peter focuses on research and investment analysis for the Group's individual, nonprofit, and institutional clients. With John and Danielle, Peter assists in the development of wealth management strategies that address the cash flow and risk management needs of each client.

          Peter joined Morgan Stanley in 2017 upon graduation from Middlebury College. At Middlebury, Peter earned his B.A. in Economics with a Political Science minor.

          A lifelong Vermonter, Peter is active in the community, serving on Congressman Peter Welch’s (VT-AL) Business Advisory Council, as well as the board of the Greater Burlington Industrial Corporation. A Burlington native and graduate of Rice Memorial High School, Peter enjoys playing golf and basketball.

          Meg lives in St. Albans, Vermont. In her free time, she enjoys travelling and spending time with her family and friends.
