Meet The Murphy Group

About Richard S Murphy

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2004, Rich had a 25-year background managing fixed income assets for individual and corporate clients of several major institutions including UBS, AIG, and Brown Brothers Harriman.
Believing that money is a tool to accomplish the things we want in life, Rich brings his Wall Street knowledge and experience managing money and building relationships to help his clients navigate their way through each stage of their financial lives. Building, preserving, and passing on a legacy involves much more than investing wisely. It requires a careful analysis of a client’s objectives, intelligent structuring of assets, and an integrated, strategic approach to planning and implementation.
Rich studied for and obtained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation in order to help clients accomplish their financial objectives for their families and the philanthropic organizations about which they deeply care.
Rich’s core belief in managing portfolios is to manage risk in light of each client’s individual situation. The goal is to use his disciplined investment process to generate competitive returns while preserving wealth during market downturns.
Rich was raised in Massachusetts and graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance. He is passionate about giving back to the community, and devotes himself to several local charitable organizations. He is a trustee for the Diocesan Investment Trust for the Episcopal Church of New Jersey, and a board member of the Monmouth County Arts Council.
