The Math Group’s Process

The Math Group’s disciplined, values-based approach is designed to focus on your unique set of goals. By following these four comprehensive steps, the team is able to recommend and implement appropriate solutions to help you achieve and maintain financial success for you and your family.
    Icon Image
Step 1: Getting to Know You
An informal phone conversation will help the team understand your financial concerns and determine what value can be added to your situation. If both sides feel there is a comfortable fit, a member of the team will arrange an in-person or Zoom videoconferencing meeting to learn about you in more depth.
    Icon Image
Step 2: Goal Setting and Discovery
In this step, the team will take a financial inventory of all of your assets and liabilities to determine where you currently are – your “Point A.” Then, the team can focus on what your most important goals are – your “Point B.” The plan will illustrate how the team can help get you from “Point A to Point B.”
    Icon Image
Step 3: Presentation of Your Custom Plan
In this important step, the team will outline a comprehensive set of recommendations designed to optimize your chances of reaching your particular goals. With attention to detail, the team will determine an appropriate asset allocation mix, select appropriate portfolio managers and investments, as well as identify specific tax-efficient strategies. Opening the appropriate accounts occurs once you agree with the strategy.

Asset allocation, diversification and rebalancing do not assure a profit or protect against loss. There may be a potential tax implication with a rebalancing strategy. Please consult your tax advisor before implementing such a strategy.
    Icon Image
Step 4: Ongoing Review and Communication
Once the team executes your plan, a member of the team will set up a variety of tools to help ensure you have convenient access to your accounts such as Morgan Stanley Online. The team may also reach out to your CPA and estate attorney to discuss any tax issues and to help ensure that the strategies recommended are appropriately coordinated with your attorney’s advice. Finally, because personal objectives change and investment strategies evolve, The Math Group will look to meet regularly with you to review and rebalance as needed.

6Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information.
