Overcoming your concentrated wealth

Your equity compensation in the form of stock grants or options is a substantial share of your total wealth. These concentrated stock positions represent significant challenges: potential volatility, liquidity limitations and tax implications. By merging our own experience with the global resources of Morgan Stanley we incorporate thorough executive planning into your comprehensive wealth plan.

• Benefits and incentive compensation analysis, including types and provisions
as well as income tax implications
• Vesting analysis and a review of optional exercise strategies
• A review of your concentrated position, analyzing risk and examining diversification strategies
• Exploration of monetization options, such as sales of restricted shares under Rule 144, Rule 10b5-1 trading plans and loans and hedging strategies

Monetizing your business value

Building your own business was always about pursuing your dreams and being independent; money was just a way to measure success. But when you’re ready to pursue a new passion or spend more time with your family, you may need to access the value you’ve created. By combining our own history of working with entrepreneurs and the expertise of Morgan Stanley we can help you monetize your business value in the context of your overall wealth plan.

• Consider private sales via a Strategic Client Group or Investment Bank
• Analyze public sale potential using an IPO
• Review various monetizing strategies and how proceeds might be
structured and invested
• Calculate retirement cash flow needs weighed against family succession
plans
• Prepare the next generation for assuming control

Meet The Martinez Group

About Me

Roberto Martinez’s more than 45 years in the financial services industry gives him the perspective to help clients and their families understand and weather the vagaries of the markets. He believes that by earning the trust of clients, and drawing on his experiences, he can offer guidance on how to keep emotions from leading to poor decisions. Roberto’s experience and insights informs his work with clients on asset allocation, portfolio management and alternative investment strategies.

After graduating from the Universidad Centroamericana in his native Nicaragua, Roberto was awarded a scholarship to attend the University of California, Berkeley where he earned an MBA. He worked at the Nicaraguan equivalent of the Federal Reserve until his love of the Bay Area brought him back. Roberto joined Merrill Lynch in 1978. He earned the Certified Retirement Planning Counselor credential, formed the Martinez Group with his son Brandon in 2010 and joined Morgan Stanley in 2025. He loves travel but can’t stop following the markets even when on vacation.

About Me

Brandon Martinez-Larragoiti provides high net worth clients with the rare combination of “old school” white glove service and “cutting edge” technical experience. He takes pride in developing a deep understanding of his clients’ unique situations and goals while also being able to provide sophisticated planning strategies to their complex issues including tax mitigation, estate planning and philanthropy management.

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Brandon graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Francisco with a bachelor’s degree in Finance. He followed that by earning Certified Financial Planner, Certified Investment Management Analyst and Certified Private Wealth Advisor certifications in order to deepen his knowledge of advanced wealth management approaches. Brandon spent 15 years at Merrill Lynch before joining Morgan Stanley in 2025. He currently lives in Redwood City.
