Working With You

One of the reasons we joined Morgan Stanley in 2023 was to help our clients take full advantage of the extensive resources available here. The customized plan we develop for you will contain tangible recommendations designed to meet the objectives we established together. Recommendations may encompass such varied disciplines as retirement planning, estate planning and strategic use of debt to finance major goals. Importantly, your plan contains a customized asset allocation based on your total finances, including accounts held at other firms, timeframe and risk tolerance.

Clients come to us for different reasons. Some are wondering how they are going to retire and pay for their daughter's law school tuition. Others are concerned about caring for an aging parent. Still others are trying to figure out the best way to exit their business without triggering excessive taxes or damaging family relationships.

For all these clients, we go the extra mile in trying to understand who they are, what they hope to achieve and what they feel might be standing in their way. We take inventory of their finances, of course, but we go beyond their personal balance sheets to determine who they are as people, not just investors.

    1. Our Initial Meeting

Our initial meeting is the first place to begin. We look for opportunities that will help you and your families' future as well. We meet not only you but your family as well. We make sure that we ask a couple of the questions below to begin:

    • Your retirement plans – What does retirement look like to you and when do you hope to begin that next phase of your life?
    • Family aspirations – Are your kids nearing college age or do they have families of their own whom you'd like to be able to help financially?
    • Business issues – Do you own your own business? Are you grappling with such issues as managing cash efficiently, offering meaningful benefits like a 401(k) or other retirement plan, contemplating an exit strategy?
    Icon Image
    2. DEVELOPING YOUR PERSONALIZED PLAN

Once we understand your investments goals, we gather the information and present you with a personalized financial plan. This plan will take in risk tolerance, volatility outcomes and how we adjust to assure you the confidence that our team has.

    • Material goals – Do you envision staying in your home, downsizing, or perhaps buying a vacation property? Are there other acquisitions you're thinking about and wondering whether you can afford them?
    • Charitable commitments – What organizations are important to you and how do you hope to support them?
    • Special circumstances – Are you adapting financially to the loss of a spouse or perhaps concerned about providing ongoing care for a special needs child? Are you a caregiver for a parent or other relative?

    3. Implementing Your Plan

After presenting your plan to you, we work closely with you to bring it to life. That may entail additional consultation with Morgan Stanley professionals who specialize in estate planning, lending strategies, family governance and other disciplines relevant to your situation. And it will also involve the development of an investment strategy to meet the challenges we identified in our plan development process.

    4. Evaluating Your Progress

Are you proceeding as anticipated toward your financial destination or is an adjustment required?

We monitor your performance on an ongoing basis and may alter our strategies to accommodate changing circumstances in your life or trends in the financial markets. When those markets turn turbulent, as they do from time to time, you can count on us to help you understand what's going on and avoid emotional decisions.

Meet The Mangiaracina Stuart Group

About Me

Len brings more than 25 years of financial experience to every client he advises. He also brings an extensive background in investment analytics that is matched by his commitment to helping clients surmount the obstacles between them and their financial goals.

A New Jersey native, Len graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in Economics and later earned a Masters degree in Public Policy from The University of Pennsylvania. He decided to combine his passions for finance and politics by beginning his career as a Public Finance specialist, advising local governments in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Several years later, he started his own firm that provided equity and mutual fund analytics to investors seeking information on what funds and institutions were buying and selling. In 2010, Len joined Merrill Lynch and put his analytical skills to work in the service of clients and their families. “I derive great satisfaction out of adding value to my clients’ lives,” he explains. “The deeper the conversation, the more I’m able to understand what my clients really care about and how to help them proceed toward their goals with greater certainty and confidence.”

Len co-founded The Mangiaracina Stuart Group with Greg Stuart in 2016. The team was named as one of Forbes Best-in-State Wealth Management Teams for 2023 and finds it especially gratifying that many of their clients are passing them on like a legacy to their children and grandchildren.

Outside the office, Len is an avid golfer and served as Chairman of the Board for First Tee, an organization focused on youth development through the integration of golf with a life skills curriculum. He has also been an active participant in Leadership Montgomery County.

Len resides in the Kentlands in Gaithersburg with his two teenage daughters.
