Our Core Strengths

We believe successful wealth management begins and ends with personalized service. We enjoy working with individuals and families who seek the same type of long-term, fully-engaged relationships we value and who appreciate the following attributes we believe set us apart from other advisory teams.
    Investment Excellence
We have extensive experience managing investments – including alternative investments, namely private equities, private real estate and hedge funds – for high net worth individuals, families and business professionals. You benefit from our knowledge and insights, yet you will never feel overwhelmed by technical jargon. Our style is welcoming and approachable. We make it easy to ask questions to fully understand the details of our strategies.
    A Team Approach
The solutions we recommend are thoughtfully coordinated to provide the knowledge and insights needed to succeed in today’s fast-paced world. We are skilled at working closely with your other wealth professionals – such as your CPA, estate and/or business attorney and insurance professionals – and can recommend qualified local professionals should you need one.
The Skills to Cut Through Complexity
We combine our problem-solving skills with a genuine enthusiasm to roll up our sleeves and identify forward-thinking strategies designed to meet your particular objectives. With more than 52 years* of combined industry experience, we believe the more complex your situation, the more valuable we are to you, and the more rewarding your overall experience will be.

*Greg has been a Financial Advisor since 1992 and Jeff has been a Financial Advisor since 1995.
    Personalized Service
Successful wealth management is a process, not an event. We have built a personalized service experience that is based on three critical components: continuous service, mutual understanding, and ongoing relationship building. Our service model enables us to provide service that is both value-added and differentiating. We attract new clients – and maintain existing ones – because of our premium service experience.

Our Disciplined Process

Charting a course to financial success begins with understanding your values, priorities and goals. Working together, we define what is most important to you and develop customized strategies to help accomplish your personal and professional objectives.
    1: Discovery & Goal Setting
We begin with an in-depth conversation to understand what is most important to you. We learn about the values that shape your decisions and identify any circumstances unique to your situation.
    2: Analysis & Strategy Development
Here, we conduct a detailed analysis of your financial situation using various financial planning and risk analysis tools. We then develop a detailed financial plan designed to help you build, preserve and transfer your wealth according to your goals.
    3: Financial Plan Presentation
In this step, we present your plan in detail. It may include changes to your current asset allocation and investment strategy, as well as advice on such complex issues as estate planning and reducing taxes. Once we review and refine your plan, we select the appropriate investments to align with our strategies.
    4: Implementation
With your approval, we begin to implement the strategies outlined in your plan. Once your assets have been successfully transferred to Morgan Stanley, we walk you through your new statement and introduce you to all the premium tools and resources now available to you. We also begin to implement the other services we discussed, such as lending and various wealth transfer and protection strategies.
    5: Ongoing Service & Care
Committed to a concierge service model, we focus on developing longstanding relationships that provide special value to you and your family. We speak with you regularly to provide updates on your accounts. We also monitor progress towards each of your goals, adjusting your financial plan accordingly as changes in your life occur.

Personalized Solutions

As your wealth grows, so does its complexities and the resources needed to manage it effectively. We leverage our experience and relationships to deliver innovative strategies that are tailored to your needs. We look forward to speaking with you to understand your challenges, so we can map out a game plan to achieve your goals.
    Financial Planning
Financial planning brings all the dimensions of your life together. We listen carefully to understand the connections across your personal life, your family, your career and your legacy goals to develop an integrated strategy that is uniquely yours.
    Professional Portfolio Management
Managing your investments should be a consultative process that balances your attitudes about investing with careful analysis of the financial markets. We create a customized strategy that applies long-held investment principles designed to help your assets appreciate appropriately or generate cash-flow or income as you require.
    Alternative Investments
Morgan Stanley’s global network affords us the ability to offer suitable clients a wide array of alternative investments, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and fixed and variable annuities. Our recommendations are based on your own goals and your tolerance for investment risk.
    401(k) Rollovers
If you have a 401(k) from an old job or an IRA from a previous life, a 401(k) rollover or rollover IRA can be a good way to save money, stay organized and make your money work harder. We make it easy to consolidate your assets into one account so you can monitor your progress and investment results all in one place. This helps simplify your financial life.
    Lending Solutions
We believe it’s important to consider all aspects of your finances when building your plan for the future. We offer a broad array of lending solutions that work together to complement your existing investment strategy.
    Estate Planning Strategies
Delivering an estate to the next generation or favorite charity requires more attention than families often realize. We coordinate with your estate and tax professionals to align your legacy goals with the appropriate asset titling and beneficiary designation requirements. We also have significant experience setting up and managing trust accounts.

Meet The Macelli Thomas Group

About Jeffrey Macelli

Building investment confidence and guiding families through the ups and downs of market volatility are the cornerstones on which Jeff has built his practice. He enjoys working with individuals, families and business owners as he provides personalized advice through a disciplined planning process. Jeff’s diverse background coupled with his passion for finance enables him to help clients understand the intricate details of their wealth. He focuses on what is most important to each client, so he can develop a customized plan to help achieve their personal and professional goals.

A California native, Jeff has always had an interest in the financial markets and a drive for establishing goals and setting a course to achieve them. After graduating with a Bachelor’s from San Diego State University in 1984, Jeff began his career in the commercial real estate industry (title insurance). For the next 10 years, he guided clients through a spectacular bull market followed by a long and painful downturn. This experience shaped his beliefs and understanding of how to help others navigate both good and bad markets. When he joined Smith Barney (now Morgan Stanley) in 1995, he made a life-changing decision to pursue his original passion of finance to help families avoid the mistakes most investors make, especially during bear markets.

Today, Jeff draws upon his vast life experiences to provide clients with tailored advice and strategies. His goals-based process begins with asking the right questions and listening intently. This information then serves as the foundation for the development of a detailed plan that reflects each client’s goals, values and personal circumstances. He takes pride in his ability to put complex investment strategies into action and effectively communicate these strategies to clients.

Jeff’s desire to help others is equaled only by his dedication to his community and his family. Over the years, he has been active with many organizations, including Pedal the Cause, a nonprofit that raises funds for cancer research at the four major cancer research centers in San Diego. As team captain for Team Beaumont’s Cancer Crushes, he has helped raise more than $675,000 towards lifesaving cancer research. Jeff is also a former President and Board Member of the Foundation of La Jolla High School.

Jeff believes balance is vital to a happy life. Outside of the office, he is fitness fanatic and enjoys cycling, swimming, paddle boarding, surfing and training in the gym. He was a competitive triathlete and has participated in numerous events from open ocean races to marathons and triathlons. His life is anchored by his commitment to his family. He and his wife, Sherry, have been married for 27 years and have two grown sons, Brock and Tristan.
