They are considered alternative because they do not fit the conventional investment types and often have a low correlation with traditional markets. Alternative investments can provide diversification and potentially higher returns, but they also typically come with a different risk profile and less liquidity. It is often used to help diversify an investment portfolio and reduce overall portfolio risk.

About Jeff Main
After earning his degree in Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine and the University of Melbourne (Australia), Jeff worked in a science laboratory and then in commercial lending. While both offered the ability to help others, there was little opportunity to build longstanding relationships. This changed when Jeff met the manager at his local Morgan Stanley branch. Today, 23 years later, he has built a successful career that allows him to help others manage their wealth and stay organized, so they can enjoy life. Through an effective use of the full resources of Morgan Stanley, his teammates and clients’ other tax and legal advisors, he provides timely financial guidance to help clients make decisions for themselves, their careers and their families.
His desire to help others achieve their personal and professional goals is equaled only by his dedication to his community and family. Jeff is currently a member of the Orange County Sherriff's Advisory Council and a board member of The Boys & Girls Clubs of Laguna Beach, a national organization focused on empowering young people to reach their full potential as healthy, caring and contributing members of society. Originally from Hacienda Heights California, Jeff now lives in Lake Forest with his wife, Kalea. He loves music and enjoys spending his free time playing the piano. He also enjoys all things outdoors, with a focus on hiking, biking, and skiing.

About Sogol Behrouz
From the largest task to the smallest request, Sogol works diligently to exceed client expectations. She manages the team’s day-to-day activities, as she cultivates and develops longstanding relationships with our clients. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Sogol worked as a Financial Advisor at Waddell & Reed for seven years. She graduated from San Francisco State University where she received her undergraduate degree in Sociology. She also maintains her California and FINRA Series 7, 63, 65, licenses, as well as her life and health insurance licenses.
Growing up in the Bay Area, Sogol wanted to work in the financial services industry to help people like her father understand the intricate details of their finances. She saw firsthand how a lack of understanding can make managing wealth difficult. While her father immigrated to the U.S. and became very successful, he lacked the knowledge to protect his assets from the “what ifs” in life. This experience inspired Sogol to pursue a career in wealth management so she could help others understand and manage their money more effectively.
Sogol and her husband, Behnam, and daughter, Golsa, live in Laguna Niguel near her parents and other family members. Outside of the office, she enjoys visiting art museums and exhibitions and designing flower arrangements for family and friends. Sogol also has an eye for fashion and enjoys providing personal styling advice.
