About Mark F. Leonard

Mark has dedicated his career to providing personalized financial advice to successful families, business owners and institutions through a disciplined and goals-based process. His extensive knowledge in a broad array of financial solutions enables him to help clients achieve their long-term financial goals, while building a diversified investment portfolio.

Born in Chicago, Mark grew up in Annapolis, Maryland. His grandfather was an important person in his life. A child of immigrants, his grandfather had no savings and no formal financial training, yet over his lifetime had amassed a significant nest egg. Contrasting his outcome with other families made Mark keenly aware of how important it is to make smart money decisions throughout one’s lifetime. This led Mark to pursue a career in financial services.

While earning his Business Management degree from Loyola University of Baltimore, Mark began his career at Citi in 1991. Nine years later, he joined SunTrust Bank as a Client Advisor. It is here where he first met Lori and Monique. They joined forces in 2005 because of their complementary skills and consistency in ethics and risk management. They enjoy working together, always putting their client’s interests first. In 2015, Mark, Lori and Monique made an important decision to join Morgan Stanley.

Throughout his career, Mark has remained committed to professional development. In 1999, he earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation and in 2020, he earned the firm’s Family Wealth Director certification. This credential builds off of Mark’s experience working with ultra-high net worth families. He and his team are now able to provide families with exclusive access to a broad array of sophisticated family advisory services that address the multigenerational challenges of managing significant wealth. Mark’s work ethic and client commitment have earned him firm and industry recognition. He has been named a Barron’s 2021 Top 1,200 Financial Advisor and a “Best in State” Wealth Advisor by Forbes from 2016 to 2021 for Northern Virginia.

Mark enjoys working with like-minded clients who appreciate the highest standard of care he and Lori deliver. His goals-based process begins with asking the right questions and actively listening. This information then serves as the foundation for the development of a comprehensive plan and investment portfolio that reflects each client’s goals for the future. Mark receives great satisfaction solving problems for his clients and helping them execute on a plan.

Mark currently resides in Haymarket, VA with his daughter, Sydney. A compassionate believer in giving back, Mark is active in a number of local organizations. He currently serves on the audit committee for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. An avid golfer, Mark is a member of the golf committee at the Piedmont Club and is also a golf course panelist for a major golf publication, helping assemble the list of best in country and best in state golf courses. Other favorite activities include cooking, hiking and regular visits to Hilton Head.

About Lori Anne Caumeil

With energy and passion, Lori empowers clients to achieve new levels of success through a disciplined and personalized approach to financial planning. With 17 years of experience, she focuses on meeting the needs of individuals and families who have accumulated a higher level of wealth. She also enjoys working with clients who seek meaningful ways to align their investments with faith-based or other important social causes without compromising investment return. For Lori, professional success is measured in terms of client well-being and goal achievement.

A magna cum laude graduate of the University of Richmond, Lori earned her B.S. degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Marketing. Upon graduation, she began her career in banking at SunTrust Bank. While this led to new opportunities in marketing, she found that she missed working one-on-one with clients. After earning her Certified Financial PlannerTM (CFP®) designation, she had a short stint in the firm’s credit underwriting unit before moving to the bank’s Trust department. This naturally led to private banking and private wealth management, a natural fit for her strengths and her desire to make a meaningful impact on the quality of people’s lives.

In 2005, Lori met her current partner, Mark Leonard. With synergies in the way they each managed their individual practices, Lori and Mark decided to join forces in 2005. Together, they made an important decision to move to Morgan Stanley 10 years later for the opportunity to provide their clients with a more robust investment platform and greater services.

Lori draws upon her vast experience to provide clients with tailored advice. Her disciplined process begins with asking the right questions and actively listening. This information then serves as the foundation for the development of a detailed plan that reflects each client’s goals, values and personal circumstances. She takes pride in her ability to put complex investment strategies into action and effectively communicate these strategies using simple and easy-to-understand language.

Lori’s desire to help others is equaled only by her dedication to her community and her family. Over the years, she has been involved with many organizations. Today, she is a strong supporter of D.C. Honor Flight, a nonprofit organization dedicated to transporting veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to honoring those who have served our country. She is also involved in various church activities.

Lori believes balance is vital to a happy life. She lives in Oakton with her husband, Jean-Paul. They have been married for 30 years and have two grown daughters. Lori is a year-round swimmer and is part of the Master’s swim program in the summer. She is also a member of the Northern Virginia Tennis League, a pianist and a baker. She loves to travel and is a big animal lover, especially those of the feline type.

Drawing on more than 20 years of industry experience, Monique is often the first line of contact on a wide range of administrative and operational services. A consummate professional, she is committed to providing each client with the highest level of personal service and integrity.

From the largest task to the smallest request, Monique works diligently to exceed client expectations. Her primary responsibilities include onboarding new clients, ensuring client account information is up to date, and performing operational tasks that support Mark and Lori in the day-to-day management of their financial planning practice.

Monique graduated from TESST College of Technology in 2003 and began working at SunTrust Bank soon after. As a Client Advisor Specialist, she worked closely with clients and advisors, processing account requests and resolving any concerns. She joined Morgan Stanley in 2015.

Monique is a lifelong resident of Maryland. She is married with three children. In her free time, she enjoys shopping, cooking and spending time with her family.
