Meet The Lenroc Team

About Beth Ann Mahanger

Raised west of Rochester, NY, Beth came to Ithaca to attend Cornell University in the fall of 1984. A wide variety of interests motivated Beth to pursue her academics as an independent studies major in the College of Human Ecology, where she could hand-choose the subjects and course-work that both sparked her interest and diversified her educational experience. During her senior year, Beth spent a semester in New York City to experience working in the fashion and design industry. However, it did not take long for Beth to begin craving the pace, space and life-style she had been accustomed to in Upstate New York.

Beth joined Morgan Stanley in 2014 and continues to add to her 25+ year career in personal finance. Presently she is the lead advisor of The Lenroc Team – where she serves as Senior Vice President, Family Wealth Director, Portfolio Management Director, Financial Advisor, and Certified Financial Planner™. In addition, she is the past chair of the CENY Women in Wealth employee group at Morgan Stanley and was a board member of the Regional Diversity and Inclusion Council. Beth is proud of how her mixed-racial background has shaped her financial perspective and understanding of modern investment plans that can help meet her clients’ cultural, financial, and social ambitions.

Beth’s volunteer experiences have included the Tompkins County Public Library Foundation, the Child Development Council, the McGraw House, the Ithaca Montessori School, Cornell’s College of Human Ecology, and President of the Cornell Club of the Ithaca Area (CCIA). She currently is a sustaining member of the President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) at Cornell. Away from her desk, Beth enjoys spending time with her children, AJ and Ally, as well as practicing yoga and the occasional round of golf.

About Jeremy Downs

Jeremy graduated from Cornell University in 2005 with a degree in Applied Economics and Management. He was a Dean’s List member and four year varsity letterman on Cornell’s nationally ranked hockey team. Upon graduation, Jeremy continued playing hockey professionally both in the United States and Europe, before returning to Ithaca, where he began his off-ice career helping start-up companies grow their businesses. A life-time interest in capital markets led Jeremy to Morgan Stanley in 2014, where he along with Beth Mahanger, formed the Lenroc Team.

Jeremy lives in Lansing, NY with his wife Billie and three young boys, Dakota, Dyson, and Declan. Away from the office, he is a member of the Cornell Alumni Association of the Ithaca Area, serves on the board of the Suicide Prevention Foundation, is a “Dream Team” member on Ithaca’s Coaches vs. Cancer Committee, and volunteers as a youth hockey coach. About Marissa Carey

Born and raised in Watkins Glen, Marissa graduated from Corning Community College (State University of New York) where she received an associate’s degree in both Business Administration and Humanities and Social Sciences. Marissa’s love for numbers motivated her to continue her education even further by attending SUNY Brockport to receive a bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

After graduation, Marissa spent the following 18 months close to her alma mater in Rochester, NY working for an independent investment advisory firm. She quickly became both Series 7 and Series 66 licensed and was assigned the role of managing the office.

Ultimately Marissa wanted to be closer to family in Watkins Glen, which led her to Ithaca’s Lenroc Team at Morgan Stanley in August of 2017. Since arriving at Morgan Stanley, Marissa has earned her Financial Planning Specialist designation and become Series 9 and 10 licensed, which gives her the ability to act as a general securities sales supervisor. Marissa’s attention to detail, tireless work ethic and devotion to clients is unmatched. The combination of her background, education and acquired skills made for an easy transition to her role as a Financial Advisor.

Away from the office Marissa enjoys spending time with family and friends, boating and exploring the many attractions and natural landscapes surrounding the Finger lakes. Marissa lives in Montour Falls with her husband Trevor, their two children Myla and Callen, and their dogs Beau and Ollie.
