About Rachel E. Laug
The Laug Group at Morgan Stanley provides insight, experience and resources to assist successful credit unions and corporations as well as emerging and senior executives reach their goals. Rachel Laug is responsible for investment selection, investment policy review and adherence, security evaluation, and trade execution to help clients optimize their investment portfolios. Rachel takes a highly personalized approach to each client. She has a passion for helping others and values building long-term relationships.

Rachel’s career began at UBS Financial Services in 1999 executing comprehensive, financial and estate planning strategies for high net worth clients. In 2007, Rachel was recruited by Morgan Stanley to serve as their Vice President, Complex Risk Officer for the Western Michigan Complex which consisted of 12 offices and over 250 employees. In this role she was responsible for supervisory and compliance functions. In 2011, Rachel was presented with an opportunity to provide financial advisory services to corporate clients, specifically credit unions. During this time Rachel was designated part of the Morgan Stanley Fixed Income Sales Group comprised of a select team of Financial Advisors at the Firm focused on fixed income portfolios.
Rachel was born in Seoul, South Korea. She grew up in Michigan and graduated from Calvin College. In addition to her broad experience, Rachel has completed the Seidman College of Business Financial Planning Certification and the Yale School of Management – Investment Management Theory & Practice Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) Program. She maintains the following professional designations: Certified Financial Planner™, Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor℠, Certified Investment Management Analyst®, Executive Financial Services Director, Portfolio Manager, and Qualified Plan Financial Consultant.
In giving back to the community, Rachel is on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross of West Michigan, Broadway Grand Rapids, and John Ball Zoo. She is an InvestWrite judge for the SIFMA (Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association) Foundation. Rachel is a member of the Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce (APACC) and the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce as well as the Morgan Stanley Asian Employee Network, Women in Wealth, and The Women’s Business Alliance – an organization devoted to the advancement of women in the financial services industry. She also serves on the Morgan Stanley National Diversity & Inclusion Council.
When not working, Rachel enjoys spending time with family and exploring new travel destinations. She lives in Ada with her husband Erik.
