Our Story

Right from the initial formation of our team, we wanted our clients to have a different wealth management experience – an experience based on the true science of wealth management where our customized strategies are designed to withstand multiple generations through effective planning. Our fact-based approach shapes everything we do …

We believe in a discovery process focused on bridging the gaps, so that our
resulting comprehensive wealth management plan addresses the most
relevant goals and objectives and also risk management;

We believe in a wealth management execution process that is based on
extensive knowledge and experience of the US tax and estate laws and
regulations;

We believe in an investment management process that leverages both
technical and fundamental analysis.

We believe in an ongoing client standard of care that coincides with our own
continued professional development – in this way our clients consistently
experience the latest in wealth management tools and resources; and

We believe in the importance of philanthropy and legacy planning strategies,
so that our clients realize the full satisfaction of making a difference with
their wealth.

It is often stated that wealth management is more art than science. We take exception to this idea and work very hard every day to prove to our clients that facts matter even though a certain amount of intuition and communication skills are needed. Ultimately there is no substitute for knowledge. If you share our belief that facts matter, especially when it comes to a holistic wealth management experience, we hope you will reach out to us. We would very much like to hear your story.

About Yangchen D. Lama

As a child in Nepal, YC lived 17,000 feet above sea level in the Himalayas with no electricity and running water. At age 12, she came to the United States as an exchange student and ultimately graduated with a sterling academic record from Cornell University where she received a BA in International Relations and an MA in Public Administration with a focus on International Finance.

Before joining Morgan Stanley as a Wealth Advisor, YC worked with an international investment bank serving clients in Southeast Asia, East Asia and Africa. She also spent several years in the public sector, most notably as the manager of New York City’s public-school budget.

After 9/11, YC and her husband moved to California where her career took an unexpected turn. She combined her financial experience with her passion for helping people and making a difference in their lives. As a Wealth Advisor with more than 15 years of experience, YC offers counsel that includes her clients’ investments but goes far beyond to encompass virtually every aspect of their financial lives. She takes special pride in helping clients align their values and beliefs with their investments and also helping them understand how they might take advantage of changing legislation, geopolitical events and fluctuating markets.

She has been recognized as one of Forbes Top Women Wealth Advisors 2020-2022, Forbes Best in State Wealth Advisors 2021-2023, and Top Wealth Advisor Moms in the country by the Working Mother’s Magazine 2017-2021. She is a Certified Portfolio Manager, a Certified Financial Planner and a Morgan Stanley Family Wealth Director, a designation achieved by only a select group of advisors who possess a high caliber of education and experience in advising ultra-high net worth clients on wealth transfer, family governance, philanthropic planning and other complex disciplines.

YC strongly believes in giving back to her community and the world at large. She continues to champion access to quality education for children here in the states and abroad. For the past 20 years, she has been extensively involved in improving the lives of girls in Nepal with educational sponsorship. She has also served on several higher education board of trustees in the United States to help make colleges and universities more accessible to families from underrepresented socio-economic levels. YC currently sits on the Board of Director of Adara Development, international NGO with focus on reducing infant mortality in Uganda and rural and education development in Nepal and on the Advisory Board of Cornell University -Cornell Institute for Public Affairs. 6Structured Investments are complex and not appropriate for all investors. An investment in structured investments involves risks. These risks can include but are not limited to: fluctuations in the price, level or yield of underlying asset(s), interest rates, currency values and credit quality, substantial loss of principal, limits on participation in appreciation of underlying asset(s), limited liquidity, credit risk, and/or conflicts of interest. Many structured investments do not pay interest or guarantee a return above principal at maturity. Investors should read the security’s offering documentation prior to making an investment decision.

7The returns on a portfolio consisting primarily of Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) aware investments may be lower or higher than a portfolio that is more diversified or where decisions are based solely on investment considerations. Because ESG criteria exclude some investments, investors may not be able to take advantage of the same opportunities or market trends as investors that do not use such criteria. Diversification does not guarantee a profit or protect against loss in a declining financial market.
