About Me

Guy Roe works with individuals to help them manage life changing events by providing independent, unbiased and objective advice in the financial planning process.
 
Guy is passionate about helping individuals prepare for retirement.  Having assisted clients with their wealth management needs for more than 30 years, he has experienced both challenging and rewarding market cycles and offers clients a seasoned perspective that helps enable them to achieve their financial goals.  Guy is a curious person who continues to seek greater knowledge of the financial market to hone his understanding of the current landscape and how it will impact the success of his clients.  To that end, he has achieved a number of advanced certifications in finance and planning, including the Certified Portfolio Manager (CPM®) designation awarded by The Academy of Certified Portfolio Managers and The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science at Columbia University.  He earned his B.A. in Economics from DePauw University.  

 Utilizing a combination of wisdom and experience, Guy and the team at The Lakeland Group at Morgan Stanley work with their clients to develop and implement a comprehensive wealth plan based around their priorities.  Guy works closely with clients to design and execute customized investment strategies and adjust the plan as needed to help mitigate risk or seize opportunities when they arise.  He also manages a discretionary portfolio, which include dividend paying stocks, for clients who understand the volatility and opportunity of equities, but require an income generating strategy.  Since founding the Lakeland Group at Morgan Stanley, Guy has believed that successful client relationships go beyond providing information, ideas and strategies.  He and his team are committed to building relationships with their clients based upon honesty and accountability.

Guy is an active leader in his community and understands the importance of making a difference in the lives of others.  He has been a member of the Board of Directors for Camp Manito-wish YMCA for 14 years and recently served as Board President.  He served on the Board of Directors of WXPR Community Public Radio for 16 years and as Treasurer for the Lakeland Hawks Ice Association.  His work helped to secure financing and community support to construct the Lakeland Ice Arena.

 For fun and relaxation, Guy enjoys sports as a participant, a spectator and as an official.  He is an avid golfer, traveling to and playing in a variety of state level tournaments for the 55+ group.  Guy also serves as an athletic official for high school ice hockey.  He enjoys scuba diving, fishing, reading and staying on point with current events.

About Me

Matt has been working with clients to formulate and implement comprehensive financial plans since 2004.  Prior to joining the Lakeland Group at Morgan Stanley, he spent 10 years as an Aerospace Engineer test flying business jets.  Matt earned a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Wichita State University.  He is a problem solver with a highly analytical background who understands that wealth planning is as much an art as it is a science.

Matt is dedicated to serving families and business owners with complex financial needs and devising a clear plan and systematic way of measuring the progress each year.  Matt believes this approach keeps clients focused on reaching their goals and helps them avoid emotional pitfalls, as opposed to an index based approach which often results in investors becoming distracted by market noise and letting their emotions dictate their actions.  Matt believes “it’s not what you gain in the up years, but what you retain in the down years” that allow clients to be successful.

Striving to be more than a trusted advisor to their clients, Matt and the team at the Lakeland Group invest the time to truly understand their clients, listening to what matters most to them and what they want to accomplish during their lifetime.  His analytical experience enables him to convey complex ideas to clients in a manner they can easily understand.  

Matt is actively involved in the Eagle River Lions Club and the Eagle River Lions Club Foundation where he has served as a Board Member and Treasurer of the Club and is currently serving as the Treasurer of the Foundation.  He was awarded a Melvin Jones Fellowship for his dedication and exemplary service to his Club.  He is proud of his past involvement in the YMCA of the Northwoods, having served as a Board Member and President of the Eagle River Branch.

An engaging person with a great sense of humor, Matt enjoys meeting new people and finding common interests.  He has a variety of hobbies, including traveling the world with his wife Laura for exploration and relaxation and cooking a range of ethnic foods to experiment with tastes and methods of preparation.  Matt’s family has a lake house, which has been in his family for over 100 years, that fills much of their summertime with boat rides and quality time with family and friends.

Ed Nakhla provides his clients a holistic financial plan which can allow clients the freedom to pursue life enriching.

Ed has been serving the financial needs of individuals, families and business owners since 2003.  Prior to becoming a financial advisor, he co-founded a computer networking company which became an Inc. 500 company as a result of its strong and successful growth.  Ed sold the company and was inspired to serve other business owners and senior level executives with complex financial concerns.  Ed earned his MBA from Cardinal Stritch University in Wisconsin and his B.A. in Business Administration from Montclair State University in New Jersey.

Clients can expect Ed to build long-term relationships based on trust and competence; the cornerstone of his practice.  Each client receives objective and experienced financial advice tailored for each relationship.  To identify his clients’ future goals and current pressing needs, Ed has developed a comprehensive, multi-step consultative process that begins by careful listening.  In addition to gathering information to create a complete financial picture, Ed strives to deepen the relationship by understanding the client’s family dynamics, potential anxieties and life aspirations.  Whether the issues are family business succession planning, retirement planning, wealth preservation strategies or retirement income creation, Ed can help handle his clients’ needs.

Ed understands the importance of giving back to the community, and through the years he has actively volunteered his time with a variety of community based organizations.  He has worked with faith based groups, such as Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Bible Truth Chapel and Living Waters Bible Camp.  He also enjoys his involvement with the Performing Arts Foundation of Wausau, WI, and the Wausau Area Chamber of Commerce. 

 Ed and his wife, Brenda, have been married for more than 30 years and have enjoyed raising their three beautiful daughters.  Ed enjoys tennis and chess, but he is passionate about exploring the world through travel.  He has lived in Egypt, Brazil and the U.S. and has visited 15 other countries.  Ed expresses himself creatively through his artistry and cooking, appreciating the opportunity to entertain his friends and family.

About Me

Andy Roe creates strategies that can help clients develop, understand and achieve their financial goals.  

 Andy has been working with Morgan Stanley for seven years.  Prior to this, Andy led progressive wilderness expeditions for teenagers that focused on building character and leadership qualities by tackling outdoor challenges.  Through this experience, he has gained a great appreciation for the complete planning process:  developing, executing and reviewing.  Andy earned his B.A. in Economics from Colorado College.

 Working with a diverse client base, Andy helps complex families organize their affairs, document their goals and implement strategies that can help them to reach those goals more effectively.  The planning process begins by listening to the client to discern their most pressing financial concerns and prioritize their goals.  Andy believes in working collaboratively with his clients and their other professional advisors to bring clarity to their financial picture.   Whether the goals are estate and tax planning strategies, retirement planning, risk management, charitable giving, business succession planning or liability management, he strives to achieve the right balance of risk and return.

Andy and his wife, Mary, enjoy spending time with their family and friends.  They love spending time outside and can often be found canoeing, hiking, biking, camping, golfing and boating.  Andy is particularly proud of his involvement in Camp Manito-wish YMCA and believes his experiences there have shaped nearly every aspect of his life.
