About Robert E. Kennedy
A seasoned professional for more than 35 years, Bob enjoys working with financially successful individuals and families, providing highly personalized advice through a disciplined wealth management approach. His extensive financial services background enables him to help his clients understand the intricate details of their personal wealth. He focuses on what is most important to each family, so he can develop a customized plan designed to build, preserve and transition their wealth.
Upon graduating from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1978, Bob began his career in the oil industry, working offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. Over the next six years, he learned the ins and outs of the industry and moved into an engineering role in New Orleans. When the oil crisis hit, Bob took his love of hard work and his passion for finance and turned it into a new opportunity. He started at PaineWebber in November 1986 and never looked back. Over the next 30 years, Bob experienced both bull and bear markets and through every situation, helped his clients navigate each challenge. In 2003, he joined Legg Mason, a predecessor firm of Morgan Stanley, to leverage the firm’s first-class expertise.
Over the years, Bob has developed a strong understanding of economics and is well versed in the equity and fixed income markets. He works closely with his clients’ existing tax and legal professionals to ensure a cohesive, coordinated approach to wealth management. Bob’s ultimate objective is to be the last financial advisor a family will ever need.
Following Hurricane Katrina, Bob helped establish the Better than Ezra Foundation and the Lafayette Square Conservancy. Bob and his wife, Laurie, have two papillons, Sucre and Summer. He is passionate about boating, having successfully navigated the inland waterways from New Orleans to Tennessee and Key West, and has done extensive cruising in the Bahama Islands. His favorite cruising area is the Exumas! Bob is an active member of the Lauderdale Yacht Club and currently docks his boat in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
