Our Story and Services

New and unforeseen events seem to come at us, rapid fire, from all directions, and often add complexity to what already is a challenging backdrop for investors. Our goal is to cut through that complexity and to offer sophisticated advice that reflects experience in multiple market and economic environments.

We are the Kenilworth Group at Morgan Stanley. Together, we have decades of experience helping investors meet their financial goals. We pride ourselves on transparency and clear communication. We think tactically and strategically, and we explain, in detail, how each piece of the investment puzzle fits into the whole.

Working With You

We use numerous tools to help implement customized plans.

Our discretionary strategies, offered through the Morgan Stanley Portfolio Group platform, range from portfolios featuring large-capitalization growth stocks with what we believe are attractive valuations, to portfolios in which we seek enhanced dividend yields and potential volatilities below that for the market.

In each strategy we select stocks using a combination of financial metrics, such as P/E ratio, free cash flow and balance sheet strength, as well as an evaluation of managements and the identification of catalysts. Analytical tools allow us to monitor industry concentrations and other portfolio characteristics, such as beta. Performance is measured real-time. We also construct bond ladders and other fixed income portfolios to compliment equity strategies and to help meet the individual income goals and risk preferences of our clients.

We are committed to customization and will work to ensure that your preferences are reflected in the composition of your portfolio. Tell us about a special tax issue and we’ll work with you and your tax adviser to help solve it. If there are stocks you’d like to avoid, for any reason, we’ll attempt to identify suitable substitutes.

Some of our clients prefer non-discretionary programs in which we help them structure portfolios, carefully evaluating their short- and long-term objectives and risk tolerance. We’ll look at asset correlations to balance potential returns against risk. Moreover, we often recommend, when it best suits the client, one or more outside managers that are selected for Morgan Stanley’s platform following rigorous analysis by the firm’s Consulting Group. We add our own overlay to manager evaluation by looking at historical returns, volatility, Sharpe ratios and other important metrics.

    Our Clients

    Candid, Direct Advice

Individuals, families, and businesses juggle financial goals that are often fluid and sometimes contradictory. Thus we offer customized strategies, including financial plans and asset allocations, which are formulated only after listening carefully to your thoughts about your present circumstances and aspirations. Our advice is candid: we’ll tell you what we think will work, and what won’t. And we’ll always explain why. Importantly, we believe all financial plans must be dynamic, that is, sufficiently flexible to enable us, working with you, to respond to changing needs and market conditions.

Source: Forbes.com (Jan. 2018). America’s Top Wealth Advisors: State-By-State ranking was developed by SHOOK Research and is based on in-person and telephone due diligence meetings and a ranking algorithm that includes: client retention, industry experience, review of compliance records, firm nominations; and quantitative criteria, including: assets under management and revenue generated for their firms. Investment performance is not a criterion because client objectives and risk tolerances vary, and advisors rarely have audited performance reports. Rankings are based on the opinions of SHOOK Research, LLC and are not indicative of future performance or representative of any one client’s experience. Neither Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC nor its Financial Advisors or Private Wealth Advisors pay a fee to Forbes or SHOOK Research in exchange for the ranking. 4Fixed Income investing entails credit risks and interest rate risks. When interest rates rise, bond prices generally fall.

5Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.

6Fixed Income investing entails credit risks and interest rate risks. When interest rates rise, bond prices generally fall.

7Insurance products are offered in conjunction with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC’s licensed insurance agency affiliates.

8Income generated from an investment in a municipal bond is generally exempt from federal income taxes. Some income may be subject to state and local taxes and to the federal alternative minimum tax. Capital gains, if any, are subject to tax.

Clients should consult their tax advisor for matters involving taxation and tax planning and their attorney for legal matters.

10An investment in an exchange-traded fund involves risks similar to those of investing in a broadly based portfolio of equity securities traded on exchange in the relevant securities market, such as market fluctuations caused by such factors as economic and political developments, changes in interest rates and perceived trends in stock prices. The investment return and principal value of ETF investments will fluctuate, so that an investor's ETF shares, if or when sold, may be worth more or less than the original cost.
