About Scott D Johnston
For over a decade, Scott has been helping clients manage their wealth to achieve their goals. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, he upholds the highest ethical and professional standards and delivers a comprehensive, multigenerational, planning-based approach to wealth management that encompasses virtually every aspect of a client’s financial life. In addition to assisting in the discretionary management of the team’s private client portfolios, Scott coordinates with our clients’ other professional advisors.
Scott came to Morgan Stanley* in 1999, joining forces with his father, Dan Johnston, who was with the Firm for 53 years and has since retired. Scott began his financial services career in 1996 at Paine Webber, where he worked in institutional equity sales. This background helped him develop a nuanced perspective on how to deliver an institutional level of service to individuals and families.
Scott graduated from Duke University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in public policy and history. He lives in Fayetteville, New York, with his wife, Jolie, and their three children. Outside of work, he is passionate about martial arts, acoustic guitar and songwriting. Scott is an active member of the Syracuse Executives Association. A proponent of the team mantra “think global act local”, he supports several local non-profit organizations, including Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central New York, The Jewish Community Center, Make-A-Wish of Central New York and the Skaneateles Lake Association.
