Our Story and Services

At the Hines Hall team at Morgan Stanley, we believe that strong relationships are built on two things – a synergy between client goals and advisor strengths, and a set of shared values. Accordingly, here are 5 principles that define our team:

1. Nothing is more important than trust. Our background is in private banking – a culture built on doing what you promise to do, having frank discussions, and always acting in our client’s best interest.
2. Your goals are the only yardstick of success. We practice goal-based, comprehensive wealth management, and provide thoughtful, strategic advice for every decision.
3. Have a plan for everything. Short-, medium- and long-term goals. Liquidity events. Life stage changes. Each can (and must) be planned for.
4. Wealth decisions and emotions don’t mix. Why do investors make poor decision? Often, the answer is simple: emotion. Emotions cause people to deviate from their plans. We provide the steady hand to help ensure that financial decisions are driven by logic, wisdom and planning.
5. Even complicated issues can be made simple. Our clients lead engaged, active lives. We handle the heavy lifting, so clients enjoy sophisticated wealth management made simple.

We work with successful entrepreneurs, executives, business owners, physicians – primarily self-made people keenly interested in protecting what they’ve earned for their families and future generations. And we are committed to the highest level of personal, boutique-style service.

A systematic approach to comprehensive wealth management

Every client is unique and our advice and recommendations are tailored to your specific goals.

However, we also have found that the best way to create a customized plan for you is with a time-tested, repeatable process. It is a four-step process that helps identify and clarify your goals, preferences and personal style:

1. Discover
• Assess your current financial situation
• Discuss your financial and life goals
• Talk about objectives for your family and legacy
• Assist in defining your time frame and preferred level of risk

2. Create
• Develop an investment strategy based on your needs
• Design a customized portfolio using Modern Portfolio Theory to determine asset allocation
• Create comprehensive financial plans that offer solutions for important life events and goals such as retirement, education and philanthropy
• Advise on employer-sponsored plans and benefits
• Assess cash flow and liability requirements
• Consider strategies to mitigate tax liabilities

3. Act
• Provide an implementation plan involving investment management, cash management, trust & estate strategies and insurance solutions
• Integrate equity compensation and other benefits into an overall investment strategy
• Coordinate plan implementation with your attorneys and tax advisors

4. Adjust
• Continually assess investment allocation to determine if adjustments are needed based on life events and/or changing market conditions
• Adapt strategies based on evolving tax and regulatory environments
• Conduct formal reviews throughout the year

Beyond your portfolio – the importance of wealth management

Comprehensive wealth management is much more than investments; it includes every decision – large or small – that has a financial impact on your overall goals. We carefully review both sides of your personal balance sheet: assets (investments, real estate, etc.) and liabilities (debt, taxes, etc.).

That’s why we believe in a comprehensive approach, which we call goals-based wealth management. In practice, it means we offer advice and recommendations on anything involving money, including (but not limited to):
