The Hineman Group employs a discretionary investment management approach that features carefully selected third party managers specializing in various asset classes and investment categories.

We’ve included a number of articles below that should enhance your understanding of our long-term, risk-conscious investment philosophy and why we believe it to be especially suitable for today’s markets.
Our disciplined approach begins with developing a comprehensive understanding of who you are, what you value and what you truly want your wealth to accomplish. Specifically, you can count on The Hineman Group to work closely with you in the following manner:
Discovery
Before we make specific recommendations, we take the time to understand who you are as a person, as well as an investor, and what you really hope to achieve for yourself and your family. That means an in-depth discussion of your current finances, future objectives, attitude toward risk and other circumstances that will assist us in developing a customized plan.
Formulation
We analyze your input and seek to develop a wealth management plan that contains specific recommendations designed to meet the objectives you established. Recommendations may encompass such varied strategies as retirement planning, executive compensation issues, tax minimization, wealth transfer, and access to our banking and lending Services. Importantly, your plan contains a customized asset allocation based on your total finances, including accounts held at other firms.
Implementation
After formulating your plan, we continue to work closely with you to bring it to life. That may entail additional consultation with Morgan Stanley professionals who specialize in estate planning, lending strategies and other disciplines relevant to your situation. And it will also involve the development of an investment strategy to meet the criteria established in the discovery phase of our process.
Evaluation
As you would expect, we believe that ongoing communication is a vital component of our business. We strive to keep abreast of your changing financial needs and aim to provide viable solutions to help meet them. This means constant monitoring of your plan and portfolio to make certain your assets are positioned to meet your changing circumstances, as well as fluctuating market conditions.

About John Hineman

I am a Senior Vice President and Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley on Town Center Drive in the heart of Valencia. Together with my brother we have formed the Hineman Group to provide financial advisory services to individuals and institutions.

In my 36 years of practice I’ve experienced so much both professionally and personally. At 65 years old I’ve been married for 32 years with two young adult children and lots of gray hair. No matter what stage in life you are at I can help you achieve your financial goals.

I earned my bachelor’s degree from St. Edwards University in Austin Texas. At 24 I moved from Texas to sunny California and began my career at Shearson Lehman Brothers in 1987. After working in finance for a number of years I became a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) in 2000.

I am very active in my community through business, civic and church involvement. I was previously president of the Glendale Rotary Club and I am currently active in several non-profit organizations in the Santa Clarita Valley. I am a sports fanatic and when not in the office you can find me playing a game of basketball or enjoying a round of golf. I’ve also coached various youth sports for over a decade in SCV. I get the pleasure of walking my dog Mollie everyday.

My wife Elaine and I have young adult children, Hunter 31 and Haley 29.

About Mark Hineman

I am a Senior Vice President and Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley on Town Center Drive in the heart of Valencia. Together with my brother we have formed the Hineman Group to provide financial advisory services to individuals and institutions. In my 29 years of experience I have crafted numerous custom portfolios that withstand the test of time.

It takes great discipline to accumulate enough savings to be able to retire comfortably. I love to help retirees as they turn their lifelong savings into their primary income source. To deliver my best, I achieved my Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in 2005.

I previously served as the board president of the VNA Care Hospice in the Home for 10 years. When I am not in the office you can find me playing around of golf or grilling on a sunny day.

I have been married to my wife Lisa for 26 years. We are the proud parents of Derrick 51, Lindsey 42 and Spencer 32.

I am here to assist with any client questions or concerns. My aim is to ensure client peace of mind in knowing that we are doing our best to help them.
