The following attributes demonstrate the nature of our practice and who we are:

Our wealth management approach can help guide you towards achieving your personal financial goals. We do this by helping you articulate your needs and aspirations, while reviewing all aspects of your financial life. We then build a custom-tailored road map that is carefully structured in an effort to navigate today’s sophisticated markets and tomorrow’s uncertainties. Finally, we'll determine how we can adjust your strategy over time to accommodate any changing conditions, or help meet any unforeseen income demands that may evolve.

We combine the vast resources of a major global firm with the personalized service you’d expect from a small investment boutique. You’ll benefit from our access to specialized research, institutional investment managers and sophisticated lending and cash management capabilities. Yet we'll aim to ensure you never feel overwhelmed by technical jargon or complicated processes. As your financial advisors, we make it easy for you to ask questions so you may fully understand the

3. A Team Approach

We believe you are entitled to the best advice possible. As a result, we have assembled a team of highly skilled professionals at The Harbor Shores Group whose number one priority is you and your family. To gain the precise knowledge needed to effectively manage all aspects of your wealth, we work in tandem with your accountant and estate planning attorney. As your wealth manager “quarterback,” we review your complete financial picture and help identify any gaps. Where appropriate, we will then consult with key specialists to evaluate your unique challenges and devise specific recommendations.

4. High Touch, High Service

Our clients believe, as we do, in the importance of building a longstanding relationship with their financial advisors. They have grown to depend on our “high touch, high service” approach that has become the trademark of our practice. And above all, they have come to appreciate our true passion for wanting to help them solve their financial challenges.

Wealth Planning Process

Our process starts with listening. We’ll ask questions regarding your goals and wishes, your tolerance for risk and your time horizon . . . and then we’ll listen. It’s an ongoing process through which we strive to understand all we can about you, your family, your business and your goals. This process helps us make informed recommendations and design a flexible wealth management plan that is uniquely yours.
    Icon Image
    Step 1: Identify Your Goals
We begin with a detailed conversation, where we’ll ask a series of in-depth questions. This discovery process provides us with a deeper understanding of your personal, professional and financial situation, and educates us about your history, your family, your interests and your aspirations.
    • Discuss personal and family circumstances
    • Clarify retirement goals and needs
    • Understand tax concerns
    • Determine estate and wealth transfer goals
    Icon Image
Step 2: Develop Your Wealth Management Plan
From this ongoing dialogue, we’ll develop a detailed action plan with recommendations to help you effectively build, preserve and transfer your wealth. This serves as the foundation for building your initial plan, as well as future wealth management decisions.
    • Establish investment philosophy, risk tolerance, and time horizon
    • Meet with your other trusted advisors, such as your CPA or estate attorney
    • Perform an estate and wealth planning analysis
    Icon Image
Step 3: Present Your Custom Plan
In this step, we’ll present appropriate investment options that, once executed, are designed to work together to help grow your portfolio and achieve your financial goals. We may also offer several wealth management recommendations to help preserve your assets and enable them to pass to loved ones and charitable interests with limited taxation.
    • Present comprehensive investment plan, including appropriate asset classes and investment vehicles
    • Explain how investment performance is monitored
    • Provide details and illustrations for each wealth management recommendation being considered
    Icon Image
    Step 4: Activate Your Plan
Once you approve your plan, we’ll work with you to execute the investment changes you have approved, and provide access to any additional services you require.
    • Complete paperwork to execute investment strategy
    • Prioritize activities and establish appropriate timelines
    • Initiate wealth management solutions
    Icon Image
    Step 5: Monitor and Review
Transparency is key to a successful long-term relationship. As we put your plan into action, we’ll set up a variety of tools so you have immediate access to your account information. And because markets and personal needs evolve over time, we’ll set up regular, ongoing meetings to ensure your plan remains on schedule to helping achieve your goals.
    • Review your first client statement in detail to ensure clear understanding
    • Schedule regular discussions to track progress towards your goals
    • Make adjustments to your investment strategy based on changing goals, circumstances and market conditions

About Mark Genovese

Mark Genovese is a Senior Vice President, Portfolio Management Director and founding partner of The Harbor Shores Group at Morgan Stanley. A seasoned professional with more than 15 years of industry experience, Mark has dedicated his entire career to providing customized advice and investment solutions to financially successful individuals, multi-generational families and small business owners. Focusing on wealth management for attorneys, corporate executives and professionals in the medical industry, Mark’s approach includes a thorough planning process, personalized financial strategies and a commitment to providing outstanding service. He is a strong advocate for his clients, working directly with their accountant and estate planning attorney to help ensure each resource is being fully leveraged in an effort to optimize a comprehensive strategy.

After receiving his B.A. degree in Finance and Economics from Michigan State University in 2002, Mark continued his studies at the Michigan State College of Law. Three years later, he graduated Magna Cum Laude, earning his Juris Doctor degree with a concentration in tax and estate planning. Upon graduation, Mark worked at Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan Chase, where he assisted high net worth individuals in effectively managing their assets, providing comprehensive financial planning and implementing tax-saving strategies. These experiences provided Mark with a diverse set of skills. He joined Morgan Stanley in 2013 for the opportunity to share his institutional knowledge with individuals and families, and build more personal relationships with his clients.

Since joining the Morgan Stanley family, Mark has continued to focus on developing financial solutions for his clients that are well suited to helping meet their specific wealth management needs. His clients appreciate his approachable style for helping them make well-informed decisions and maintaining the discipline necessary to navigate the most challenging of markets. His experiences include constructing and presenting detailed wealth analysis plans, as well as the implementation, monitoring and rebalancing of custom tailored investment models.

Mark’s passion for working with his clients is equaled only by his dedication to his family and his community. He and his wife, Sarah, are active supporters of the Graham’s Foundation, a local non-profit organization created to assist families of premature babies. As the parents of premature twins themselves, they know first-hand the emotional and financial impact of raising preemies and believe in giving back to an organization that has given them and other families so much. Mark and Sarah are also proud participants in the annual March of Dimes walk, where they sponsor a team and raise funds.

Mark and Sarah currently reside in Beverly Hills, Michigan with their twins, Dominic and Charlotte, and their youngest son, Rocco. He is an active member of the Michigan State Alumni Association and an annual sponsor of the MSU College of Law Annual Golf Outing. Mark also volunteers with the Motor City Blight Busters, whose mission is to revitalize the city of Detroit by cleaning up dump sites, tearing down blighted houses, painting existing homes and many beautification projects. When he’s not working directly with his clients or actively volunteering, you can find Mark spending quality time with family and friends. In his leisure time, he enjoys golfing, skiing and boating on Cass Lake.

About Andrew Meyer

Andrew Meyer is a First Vice President and founding partner of The Harbor Shores Group at Morgan Stanley. For more than 15 years, he has been providing customized advice, investment solutions and wealth management services to financially successful individuals, multi-generational families and small business owners in Bloomfield Hills and the surrounding areas. With a passion for comprehensive wealth planning, Andrew has dedicated his career to delivering objective advice through exceptional “high touch” client service to the individuals and families he proudly serves.

Andrew learned first-hand the power of investing from his father, a third-generational hardware store owner who had a passion for understanding the investment markets. At age 15, Andrew opened a small brokerage account and began investing with his father’s guidance. As he watched the stock value rise and fall, he became more and more focused on how changes in the economic environment made an impact on his investment. This experience inspired him to follow a profession that would help individuals gain the confidence and fortitude needed to make sound financial decisions in today’s complex economic markets. He set out to become a financial advisor where he could educate his clients about important financial concepts and techniques, helping them navigate the complex financial markets, while striving to make a significant and profound impact on the quality of their lives.

Andrew attended Michigan State University, where he was an active member of the Finance and Economic clubs. After earning his B.A. degree in Finance in 2003, he became a Financial Advisor at Hantz Financial Group, a regional financial firm, where he concentrated on helping clients build and activate their retirement plans. Two years later, he joined J.P. Morgan Chase, where he met Mark Genovese, one of his current business partners. It was here where he expanded his experience and knowledge in private banking and lending services. In 2013, the group moved to Morgan Stanley, where they could leverage the firm’s global resources, technology and “open architecture” platform.

Andrew’s disciplined process starts with asking the right questions to help his clients prioritize their goals for themselves and their families. This information then serves as the foundation for the development and implementation of a custom wealth management plan that reflects their lifestyle needs, while helping ensure their future or legacy.

A native of Petoskey, Andrew moved to southern Michigan in 2003. He and his wife, Allison, now call Lake Orion their home, where they live with their three children, Evan and Alexander and Lucas, their identical twin boys. An avid Tigers fan, Andrew enjoys watching the games with family and friends. In his free time, he likes to participate in all things outdoors, including fishing, skiing, basketball and golf. Every year for the past 10 years, he looks forward to sponsoring the MSU College of Law Annual Golf Outing with his partners.

4Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information.
