    About Me

    Steve A. Griggs – Senior Vice President; Portfolio Management Director

     
    Steve joined Morgan Stanley in 1980 and is a lasting member of the Firm’s prestigious

    Chairman’s Council. Having spent his entire career at Morgan Stanley, he has a deep understanding of how to influence the resources, capabilities and intellectual capital of the Firm for the benefit of our clients. A conscientious, long-time student of investing, Steve enjoys developing and implementing both sector- and security-specific investment ideas. As a graduate of the Firm’s esteemed Portfolio Management Program, he focuses on equity research, portfolio strategies, and new business planning and development. He is passionately committed to developing long-term relationships, delivering exceptional service and being a loyal confidante whom our clients, and their children, can depend on. Steve is a lifelong resident of Williamsburg, Virginia. He enjoys being outside as much as possible and is an avid outdoorsman and golfer. He enjoys spending his downtime reading, gardening, traveling with his wife, Andree, and spending time with their six children.

    About Me

    Pat Carder – Senior Vice President; Senior Portfolio Manager


    Pat joined Morgan Stanley in 1988 following a 20-year military career that included tours of duty as a company commander in Vietnam and battalion commander in Germany and Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He was the chief of the Quartermaster Officer Basic and Advanced courses at Ft. Lee, Virginia. He graduated from the Army Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, and taught military history at East Tennessee State University. His final assignment brought him to Hampton Roads where he served in the Joint Airborne Command Post at Langley Air Force Base, where he retired at a Lieutenant Colonel.

    During his years in the Army, Pat developed a great respect for planning and being prepared for any situation. It is with that mindset that he works to help plan and develop all aspects of our clients’ financial lives. A 27-year resident of Williamsburg, Pat holds a B.S. in Business Management and an MBA from East Tennessee State University. He enjoys spending time with his wife of 47 years, Sandy, playing golf, working in his yard, and trying to keep up with his two grandchildren.

    CJ Carder – First Vice President; Portfolio Management Director


    CJ brings a ability for organization and efficiency that enables our team to work cohesively for the benefit of our clients. CJ joined Morgan Stanley in 2005 after working as a Financial Planning Analyst at Northrop Grumman Newport News. As a graduate of the Firm’s esteemed Portfolio Management Program, he focuses on technical and trend analysis, portfolio risk management, and account operations. As part of Pat’s military journeys, CJ was born in Germany and has lived in multiple other states, but declares himself a native of Williamsburg, having lived here for 27 years.

    He has a B.S. in Commerce, with double concentrations in finance and marketing, from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce and an MBA from The College of William & Mary. CJ is a board member of The First Tee of the Virginia Peninsula and coaches a variety of youth sports including softball and basketball. He is an avid UVA sports fan, and enjoys traveling, playing golf, and spending time with his wife, Joy, and children Olivia Grace and Jack.

    Chuck Hartman – Vice President; Portfolio Manager; Certified Financial Planner™


    Chuck brings a combination of skills that include professional experience and training as a project engineer, corporate finance professional and business development executive for several Fortune 500 companies. This diverse background, combined with his analytical nature, enables him to develop customized investment and risk management strategies that provide a fresh perspective on wealth management. Chuck joined Morgan Stanley in 2003 and is a four-time member of the Firm’s prestigious Blue Chip Council.


    After graduating from Pennsylvania State University with his B.S. in Industrial Engineering, he earned his MBA from Northeastern University and served as an officer in the United States Air Force Reserves for eight years. He is well-versed in international business, having visited five continents and traveled extensively throughout the developing world. A resident of Williamsburg, Virginia, since 1993, Chuck has been married to his wife, Sally, since 1989 and they have two children. In his free time, Chuck enjoys skiing, traveling and golfing. An active member of the community, he attends Saint Bede Catholic Church and supports Hospice House and the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank.

    John Pattisall – Financial Planning Specialist; Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist™


    John focuses his talents on directing the lending and investment needs of our business owner clients. His personal background in steering the challenges and opportunities of startups and family businesses allows him to provide a balanced combination of empathy and experience to this role. In addition, John is accountable for designing and assisting the implementation of retirement plans that help aid our clients attain the lifestyle they envision. He also supports corporations and their employees identify and select appropriate retirement investments. John joined Morgan Stanley in 2007. While working as a small business specialist for a large national bank, he acknowledged his passion for helping people make confident, informed choices that would enable them to achieve, and maintain, financial independence.


    John earned his B.A. in Public Policy from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va. John and his wife, Cathy, have three children. They live in Williamsburg where Cathy grew up and is co-owner of a family business that dates back to 1971 and has grown from an 1,800-square foot store into a 6,000-square foot enterprise. Outside of work, John enjoys the outdoors. His activities include running, biking and spending time with his family.

    Senior Client Service Associate




    Becky has been with Morgan Stanley* since 1993, and she knows the Firm as well as she knows our clients. She serves as the initial point of contact for our clients, assisting them with all aspects of their account service requests.

    Becky also coordinates the daily operations that keep our team running smoothly and efficiently. She holds a Series 7 license.

    Becky and her husband, Charles, live in Newport News, Virginia. Between them, they have five grown children and five grandchildren.

    Outside of the office, Becky is a professional singer, active throughout Hampton Roads. She is a soloist with the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church and a retired member of the Virginia Chorale. Becky also enjoys traveling, reading, knitting and volunteering with her church.

    career. When not at the office or the beach, she can be found living in Williamsburg with her husband, Arthur, and their two children, Alexis and Logan.

    Karen joined Morgan Stanley in 2006 following a successful career in Silicon Valley, and relocation to Williamsburg. Her technology knowledge, along with a client-first focus, enables

    Karen to serve as a great resource for our clients as their financial needs transition to the 21st century. In her spare time, Karen gives back to the community through her volunteer

    activities with Therapy Dogs International, and Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg.
