About Me

A confluence of events in the year 2000 led to my embarking on a career in the wealth management profession.  Having worked in healthcare for twelve years, both as a clinician and in management, I was ready to pursue this growing interest.  After seven years of success building my own financial practice, I began the transition of the family wealth management business that my retiring father-in-law had successfully built and run for thirty-eight years.  It has been a great honor to continue his good work and serve families that have trusted him for so many years.

A useful skill I developed in healthcare was an approach to patients that was both empathetic and analytic, and it is an approach that continues to work well with my financial clients.  When I meet with clients, I take the time to listen, and to really understand their needs and goals.  In order to do my job successfully, it is critical to find out “where it hurts”, to uncover their concerns and to learn what they wish to achieve.  I then analyze their needs and develop solutions to help them reach their objectives.  Capital markets and life circumstances are constantly changing and my team and I continuously monitor portfolios and financial plans to make needed adjustments.

I have always made it my mission to help people and derive great satisfaction in helping my clients realize their financial goals, whether it is for their kids’ education, a prosperous retirement, managing a business or addressing complex estate planning needs.  I am fortunate to be able to offer not only my own skillset in serving my clients, but the resources of The Gebhardt Dare Group at Morgan Stanley.

Outside of the office, my wife, Stacy and I are landlords for two large backyard beehives and tend a prolific garden that produces bushels of tasty goods.  I indulge my artistic passions in my abstract painting, as well as playing the guitar.  Together we are active volunteers in our community and love being aunt and uncle to a gaggle of nieces and nephews.  We also enjoy traveling and have been fortunate to experience many different countries and cultures.

About Me

I am passionate about two things: finance and connecting with people.

I’ve always been a people person, and fusing that aspect of my personality with professional work in finance dovetailed perfectly for me.  When I first learned about the potential of the stock market and the power of investing assets to create more wealth, I knew I had found my professional calling.

After graduating from Pepperdine University in 1996, at age 22, I was the youngest person selected by Smith Barney to enter their financial consultant program, where I honed my skills in managing wealth and creating lasting relationships with my clients.  Those clients that entrusted their assets to me in those early days have stayed with me for nearly two decades.

The work that I have done for my clients has run the gamut from index mutual fund investments to hedging positions with derivative instruments.  My most satisfying work comes from helping my clients reach their retirement goals, provide for the education of their children, and developing estate planning strategies.  Because market conditions are constantly evolving, I constantly expand my knowledge and skills by attending continuing education programs.  I believe only the best Financial Advisors stay current and relevant.
  
For me, my connection with my clients is the foundation of the work that I do for them.  In my career, I’ve seen many different approaches to wealth management, but what I believe sets me apart is my singular focus on understanding my clients’ needs and achieving their goals.  

In my personal life, I am happiest doing fun activities with my two young boys.  I coach my sons’ baseball team, something I deeply enjoy.  Besides my family, I am also passionate about fitness, health and nutrition.  It’s a rare morning that you won’t find me drinking my kale spinach superfood smoothie, followed by a trip to the gym where I constantly try to push my personal limits.  I also enjoy reading classic American and English literature.  My boys and I live in Menlo Park, where I am active in the life of the community.

Mary brings with her over 30 years of extensive knowledge in the financial service industry.  She services the Gebhardt Dare Group with responsibilities ranging from administrative duties with a high level of customer service and relations to assisting in proposals, illustrations and portfolio asset reviews.  Mary earned a BS degree in communications and business at San Jose State and has Series 7 and 66 securities licenses.  

Born and raised in Palo Alto, she enjoys traveling to Europe and spending time with family and close friends.
