The Fairfield 7 Mile Island Group was organized by Partners Paul Miolene and Brian Lavigne who work out of Fairfield CT. Outside of work, Paul and Brian share an appreciation for time spent on a unique stretch of land in Southern NJ, often referred to as ‘7 Mile Island.’

We are a full-service wealth management team, with a boutique feel, inside a Global Firm. Morgan Stanley and our practice is in our DNA. We work with a select number of individuals and families to ensure each client receives individual attention. We provide customized solutions for our clients in areas including Professional Portfolio Management, Alternative Investment opportunities, Municipal and Credit Fixed Income strategies, Estate and Financial Planning Strategies, Liability and Cash Management.

Working With You

The Fairfield 7 Mile Island Group at Morgan Stanley provides a comprehensive suite of financial management services to our clients, including financial planning, investment strategy and asset allocation, tactical investment implementation, trust services, estate and legacy planning strategies and life and long-term care insurance. We provide cash management services, liability management advice and access to a variety of lending products. Our cross balance sheet management allows us to serve as  the "Chief Financial Officer" for many of our clients.

About Paul M. Miolene

Paul is an Alternative Investment Director, Financial Advisor and Senior Vice President with Morgan Stanley. He spent most of his career in Connecticut and his main office is located in Fairfield, CT. Currently he spends most of his time working out of Stone Harbor, NJ, part of 7 Mile Island, where he now resides. He has 33 years of Wealth Management Industry experience servicing high net worth individuals, corporations, and family offices providing tailored investment strategies and unique investment solutions.. Prior to his time at Morgan Stanley Paul was employed as a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch from 1990-2006.

Before entering the field of financial services Paul worked as a Financial Liaison Manager working between Franco-American interests and spent significant time in France. He attended the University of Connecticut and received a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in French, and was a member of the Varsity Hockey Team.

Paul and his wife Leanne enjoy their life at the shore and caring for their pets. Paul stays active cycling, running, golfing, and skiing.

About Brian R. Lavigne

Brian is a Sr. Portfolio Manager, Alternative Investment Director, Financial Advisor and Partner of The Fairfield 7 Mile Island Group at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. A former founding Partner of The 1842 Group at Morgan Stanley, He has 23 years of Wealth Management industry experience servicing High Net Worth Individuals, Institutions and Financial Advisors. This is Brian’s 20th year at Morgan Stanley.

Brian served as an Executive Director in the Capital Markets Division of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management where he advised many of the firm’s top Financial Advisors and Wealth Management clients. He worked closely with Local and Regional Management, Private Banking and Consulting Group Divisions as well as third party Asset Managers to provide Wealth Management solutions for clients. Brian held a number of roles within the Fixed Income Group and was responsible for Corporate and Municipal Portfolio Construction and Analysis and worked closely with the Equity Solutions Group.

Previously, Brian worked as an Investment Professional in the Private Wealth Management Division of Goldman Sachs and The Ayco Company LP, a Goldman Sachs Company. He was responsible for servicing and advising High Net Worth relationships in areas such as asset allocation, asset manager selection and investment implementation across Equities, Fixed Income, Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Structured Products and Single-Stock Risk Management Solutions.

Brian received a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Notre Dame in Marketing and Computer Applications. He works in the Fairfield, Connecticut office and resides in New Canaan, Connecticut with his wife and three children.

Outside of work, Brian is an active volunteer in his community. Brian was a former board member of The Voices of September 11th and and active board member of New Canaan Lacrosse Association. He enjoys coaching his kids sports, playing golf, fishing, and spending time with his family, dogs’ Jetty and Dune in Avalon NJ.

About Marsha Lundvall

Marsha has 20 years of industry experience, the last 9 of which working as a Morgan Stanley Associate. She recently joined The Fairfield 7 Mile Island Group and brings with her a great deal of experience, knowledge, and attention to detail. She has her Series 7, 63, 66 and Insurance Licenses.

Marsha is responsible for all client onboarding and day-to-day operations. She is also responsible for the operational aspects of alternative investment strategy implementation, active involvement in assisting with client allocation modeling and the development of client financial plans.

Marsha went to MT IDA in Newton, Massachusetts for Paralegal studies.

Marsha is a resident of Fairfield, Connecticut for 24 years with her husband and twin daughters.

About Matthew C. Carrano

Matt joined The Fairfield 7 Mile Island Group at Morgan Stanley in 2019. He manages all day-to-day operational activities, assists with the development and implementation of clients’ portfolio strategies along with associated risk analyses, and helps in the monitoring of clients’ financial plans. He also assists in the implementation of the team’s marketing strategy and helps manage it’s social media presence.

Matt strives to provide the highest level of service to the team’s clients, from initial contact and onboarding of new relationships, to assisting clients with the adoption of the firm’s digital tools including Morgan Stanley Online through which clients access all account information and execute necessary operational activities.

Matt received a Bachelor of Science degree from Roger Williams University in Finance, where he worked as Student Fund Manager and Equity Analyst for the Center for Advanced Financial Education. He works in Fairfield, Connecticut and resides in Milford, Connecticut.
