Welcome

Our team’s name reflects the enduring symbolism of the evergreen, which is embodied through our professional relationships and personal friendships with clients. Throughout history, the evergreen is renowned for its endurance and vitality through harsh, changing conditions, and is often associated with hope, renewal and protection. All of these are central to the investment and financial planning stewardship we strive for every day.

Our foundation is built on planning with a focus on portfolio construction, retirement income and estate planning strategies. We also address the complex wealth management challenges associated with legacy planning and charitable giving.

While our team serves a broad range of clients, we frequently consult with highly accomplished professionals, such as physicians, corporate executives, business owners and their families, attorneys and accountants. Our clients appreciate the extensive knowledge and long-term stability offered by our team; we collectively have over 80 years of experience in the industry with the majority of those at Morgan Stanley.

The Evergreen Group’s process begins with a deeply engaged discovery methodology that explores your needs, concerns and objectives. This facilitates our ability to deliver customized, impactful planning that highlights your accumulation and distribution phases using strategies related to asset allocation, tax-loss harvesting and income-smoothing.

Our long-term approach to investing seeks to harmonize your planning needs with your investment portfolio. When constructing your portfolio, we leverage the world-class resources available through Morgan Stanley to identify and employ best-in-class investment managers, along with strategic alternative investments. As part of our client-centric approach, we’ll serve as your financial quarterback and coordinate matters with your estate attorney and CPA to better ensure all aspects of wealth management are integrated into your planning for today and tomorrow.

Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC (“Morgan Stanley”), its affiliates and Morgan Stanley Financial Advisors or Private Wealth Advisors do not provide tax or legal advice. Individuals should consult their tax advisor for matters involving taxation and tax planning and their attorney for matters involving trusts, estate planning, charitable giving, philanthropic planning or other legal matters.

Tax-loss harvesting. IRS rules stipulate that if a security is sold by an investor at a tax loss, the tax loss will not be currently usable if the investor has acquired (or has entered into a contract or option on) the same or substantially identical securities 30 days before or after the sale that generated the loss. This so-called “wash sale” rule is applied with respect to all of the investor’s transactions across all accounts.

About Jack R Dandrea

As a Financial Advisor with nearly 40 years of experience, Jack is committed to providing objective, holistic advice for individuals who want to plan for the future, but don’t necessarily possess the time or resources to do so on their own. Through a client-centric standard of care, Jack and his team work with each client to identify their long-term objectives, and create a financial plan that will help them achieve what matters most in their lives.

His lengthy career in financial services began in 1985 serving individual and institutional investors for The Vanguard Group. This experience provided Jack with a foundational understanding of the industry, the significance that team culture plays in building relationships and how an integral focus on process, philosophy and people can help shape a meaningful experience for clients. In 2001, he brought this knowledge to Morgan Stanley as a founding partner of the Evergreen Group. For his efforts, Jack has been recognized as a Pittsburgh Five-Star Wealth Manager in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Born and raised in western Pennsylvania, Jack graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, and completed the Securities Industry Institute through The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He currently resides in Pittsburgh, and spends much of his time outside of work with his daughters, Kali and Mia, along with family and friends. Jack enjoys trips to the beach and mountains, along with participating in outdoor activities like golf, hiking and biking.

After coaching girls’ basketball for over 20 years, Jack now spends his volunteer time mentoring students through the Smeal College of Business Mentors Program at Penn State University. Through this program, Jack is afforded an opportunity to help young individuals identify academic majors, develop leadership skills and plan for a successful career. The program provides a deep sense of fulfillment that comes from helping others realize their dreams, while also keeping him connected to his alma mater and the Penn State community.

11Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice.
