About Melanie Dowell

Melanie is an Executive Director and founding partner of The Dowell Group. An industry veteran with over 40 years of experience, Melanie focuses on helping successful individuals and multi-generational families build and preserve their wealth. She is proud to be a longstanding member of Morgan Stanley, having been part of the Firm’s history since 1988. This tenure enables Melanie to build deep relationships with the Firm’s senior leaders and enjoy immediate access to the Firm’s global resources. Melanie is both mother and partner to two of her sons, Walker and Preston. Together with their dedicated team, they provide personalized financial advice through a disciplined and goals based
process. As the senior advisor of the group, Melanie is responsible for shaping the team’s strategic vision and for overseeing the management of all client relationships and investment portfolios. Her extensive experience enables her to help clients achieve their financial and estate planning goals, while remaining
true to their personal values.

Melanie grew up in Jackson and holds a B.B.A. in Public Administration with an emphasis on Economics from the University of Mississippi. She began her
career in 1980 with Merrill Lynch, where she first met her late husband, Mike
Dowell. The two worked alongside each other, until Mike retired from the business in 2019 after 47 years in the industry. Throughout their careers, they built a strong and dynamic family wealth practice, earning national recognition
from Forbes and Barron’s.

A strong believer in helping state and local causes, Melanie actively volunteers
with a number of local organizations. She was on the University of Mississippi’s
School of Business Advisory Board for 25 years and is a former chair of the
Board. Melanie now serves on the Board of The University of Mississippi’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. She has been very involved since the founding of The Redeemer’s School — a Bible-based school focused on serving the children and families of the Broadmoor neighborhood in support of the larger Broadmoor mission — on whose board she proudly serves. Melanie has three grown sons and five grandchildren. She is passionate about all things Ole Miss and likes to fish. Melanie truly loves Mississippi and taking part
in all the great things her home state has to offer.

About Preston Dowell

Preston has dedicated his career to serving the wealth management needs of successful professionals, families and business owners across
the Southeast. He enjoys partnering with his mother, Melanie, and brother,
Walker, in overseeing their family wealth management practice. Together,
they work closely to solve their clients’ financial challenges, delivering thoughtful and objective advice for life’s most important milestones. He comes to work every day focused on helping the people in his community, always striving to make a significant impact on the quality of their lives.

Preston began his career in wealth management after graduating from the University of Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in managerial finance. In 2011, he started as a sole practitioner Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley, working down the hall from his parent’s practice.

At first, there was little overlap in the clients they each served, but over time,
they enjoyed more and more joint projects, making the decision to join practices in 2014 an easy one.

As an Alternatives Investment Director and Financial Advisor, Preston is
responsible for the discovery, portfolio creation and client-facing portfolio
review and monitoring of each client’s customized wealth plan. His advanced
credential in alternative investments provides valuable insights and analysis
in a number of areas, including private equity, private real estate, hedge funds,
income generation and risk management. He brings this knowledge and experience to the clients of The Dowell Group, delivering sophisticated strategies to enhance the growth and preservation of
their assets.

Preston is happily married to Betsy Dowell. He enjoys raising their son,
Michael, being with their 2 dogs and all things outdoors.

About Walker Dowell

A second-generation Financial Advisor, Walker proudly serves alongside his
mother, Melanie, and brother, Preston, in managing their family wealth management practice. Together, they enjoy working with families and institutions, providing personalized guidance through a disciplined process.
Walker’s experience and knowledge enable him to help clients understand
the details of their wealth. He listens carefully to what is most important to each family, so he can help develop a customized investment portfolio designed
to address their unique goals and circumstances.

Walker graduated Summa Cum Laude, was the Taylor Medalist in Finance and Class Marshall of the University of Mississippi Business School. He also studied accounting and mathematics. He began his career as an intern at Macquarie Capital in New York City, gaining valuable experience in financial modeling, and international markets. He moved to Little Rock, Arkansas for an investment banking position with Stephens Inc. At Stephens Inc., Walker worked with the Firm’s M&A team and private equity arm, performing duties
that included the analysis, evaluation and execution of numerous largescale transactions. Walker worked on transactions totaling over $10 billion in mergers and acquisitions during his investment banking tenure.

Walker returned home to Jackson in 2017 for the opportunity to help the
people of Mississippi make sound financial decisions and positively impact the quality of their lives. Walker’s background in corporate finance and investments enables him to effectively analyze the market environment and this analysis in a client’s planning process. Other strengths include, business
succession planning, risk management, internal operations and strategy.

A native of Jackson, Walker is an active member of Redeemer Presbyterian
Church and very involved with the Church’s children’s ministry and various
community outreach programs. Outside of the office, he enjoys traveling, all
things Mississippi and participating in city league sports.
