About Joel L Konigsberg
Joel L. Konigsberg, CFP® is a Managing Director - Wealth Management, Family Wealth Director and Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley in New York City. He joined the firm in 1993 and is the founding member of The Constellation Group at Morgan Stanley. Given his long tenure, he is highly skilled at maximizing the full resources of Morgan Stanley to his clients’ benefit.
Discreet and caring, Joel serves ultra and high net worth investors and families and advises qualified benefit plans, foundations and endowment funds. In each of the last seven years, most recently in 2025, he was recognized by Forbes® magazine’s “Best-In-State Wealth Advisors.” In 2023, 2024 and 2025, The Constellation Group at Morgan Stanley was also recognized by Forbes® magazine’s “Best-In-State Wealth Management Teams". This honor reflects our entire team’s steadfast and diligent dedication to our clients’ specific and unique financial goals. In 2014, he was recognized as a Five Star Wealth Manager.
Joel’s career has been highlighted by numerous milestones, underscoring his deep, unwavering commitment to his clients, colleagues and those in need.
In 2025, Joel was recognized by Morgan Stanley for exemplary community leadership among his peers for his support for students with learning differences. In addition to having established an endowed scholarship there, Joel and his wife, Jane serve as board members of the Strategic Alternative Learning Techniques (SALT) Center Advisory Board at the University of Arizona (Tucson, AZ) lending insight with respect to the financial aspects of this on-campus program for academically at-risk students in need of support.
In 2020, Joel earned two designations: most notably he was named Managing Director, a title coveted by many, but held by relatively few Morgan Stanley Financial Advisors. He was also designated an Alternative Investments Director for his broad knowledge in that asset class. In 2010, he was appointed Senior Portfolio Management Director. In 2009, he was designated Family Wealth Director by Morgan Stanley.
In 2005, Joel received his Financial Planner Certificate from Boston University, Center for Professional Education, and in 2006, he earned the highly respected CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification, of which he is most proud. In 1994, he earned five important regulatory licenses.
In addition to his clients, from 2021-2024, Joel served a three-year appointment as a volunteer to the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (Washington, DC) He sat on the Disciplinary and Ethics Commission as a commissioner and in 2023 was voted by his co-panelist peers to serve as the Commission’s Chair that year. Among its responsibilities, the Commission reviews, adjudicates and takes appropriate action with respect to alleged violations of the Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct. As a precursor to that role, he had previously served as a Hearing Panel Volunteer for the Commission.
In his ongoing service to the investing public and the securities industry, in 2022, Joel has been accepted to serve as a neutral arbitrator for FINRA's Dispute Resolution Services arbitration program.
Presently, Joel teaches basic financial literacy skills to survivors of domestic violence through an organization called Working in Support of Education (W!SE). So often, it is the lack of basic financial knowledge which keeps people in abusive relationships By providing that education, Joel's goal is to empower individuals to be in a better position to make decisions about their lives from a position of relative strength not weakness.
Joel has a Bachelor of Science degree from the Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science. He and his wife, Jane, have three children. They reside in New York City and philanthropically focus on helping to provide resources for academically at-risk students, on-campus food insecurity and foster children facing an uncertain educational future. In that regard, Joel and his wife Jane established a perpetual scholarship at the University of Arizona to provide financial assistance to students who may not otherwise be able to afford the academic support they need to succeed.
